Yoid!!! Its a HANDER!!!

Sometimes that's a good way to pick up a camera at a bargain.

<p>Sometimes it's a good way to buy an item in poor condition. There may not even be a lens behind the door of that Vito :)</p>

<p>Once, over ten years ago at the same site, I got an Olympus Pen-D2 that was described as "mint' with equally poor pictures. It wasn't, it barely worked. I didn't spend much on it so I kept it for parts. Still have it somewhere here, too.</p>

<p>Looks more like a Yoid second-hander...As Mike and Rob said, sometimes a $20 gamble pays off...</p>

<p>Well, that's one spelling that slipped through the cracks. In the past year, ebay has been slowly catching up to our 'little secret'. Some of the more common mis-spellings of <em>Voigtländer </em>now automatically get redirected to the main, correct listings. <br>

However, those persistent enough can still find a nice vintage Heliar or Dynar for dirt cheap .... just takes a bit more know-how ;o)</p>

I got some bargains on Jahgee (Ihagee) cameras when I started.</p>

<p>I bid $5.00 on a Minolta SR T101 with 55mm lens and case with 7 day look and no one bid against me. Meter works like new, cosmetics are pristine. It is flawless. The photos were not very good, so I bid $5.00 and forgot about it. My Droid buzzed with a email from Ebay that I was a winner. Some days are diamonds and somedays are stone.</p>

<p>Snagged a "Thagee" 75/1.5 Biotar once for a few bucks. And "Rokker" lenses really rock sometimes, too !</p>

<p>Thagee always reminded me of a 19th c. Indian cult. Pictures in my head of an Exakta garroting someone...<br>

(with all the straps, not altogether unlikely).</p>

<p>I wonder if they've been banned by the TSA because of the built-in film cutters, too ?</p>

<p>I got an "Instamatic 33" on eBay that was really a Recomar 33. Something like $10. That wasn't a spelling error, just gross ignorance, assuming all Kodak cameras are Instamatics.</p>

 

<p>I think most of the cameras we talk about on da' CMC should be banned by airlines, most of them make a much more effective weapon than a box cutter:) I would not like to take bonk to the head with a "brick" :)</p>
