"Cute" eh? Well It doesn't come much cuter than this 10 min. old fawn born in our front yard last Thursday. Memsahib was telling me "GET YOUR CAMERA!! HURRY!" Of course I don't have long glass for the D700 and there was no film in the OM-1 so we've had to settle for what I could pull in with 85mm and some LR cropping. Did leave me the opportunity for a Fathers Day hint for that 70-200 VR II. |;-}

00Ymg4-362321584.jpg.4e99bcc8b94ed10169ca31cb1859a15a.jpg

This Canon user had been taking snaps of everyone else, but obviously didn't feel very comfortable when I turned my D700 & 300mm lens on him. Shooting Canon is obviously a joyous experience, since this guy's expression stayed pretty much the same for the whole time I was watching him, and before I even pointed my camera in his direction. There may even be a touch of envy in his grumpy expression - it's difficult to tell.

00YmgF-362329684.JPG.be2e4d9dc438eeb72b5e1d990f432b00.JPG

Some great pics so far...haven't posted in a while. Like Tony Hadleys reflection, Jerry Litynskis web, J Meighans portraits as always, Martin Z-how did you bend your picture????looks like it's curling off the screen! Great "savage" winds here,,,tried out new 70-300VR, pleasantly surprised with it. Not the best photo but enjoyed playing with my new toy :)

00Ymgg-362333584.jpg.30522390a2795756803f4448037dfb76.jpg

this is from one of my favorite places to visit and photograph -- shockoe hill cemetery in richmond, va. it happens to be the place where chief justice john marshall is buried, along with a veritable who's who of 19th century richmond. while most of the upkeep is done by the city parks department, there's a devoted band of citizen volunteers that keeps the grounds looking sharp. while hollywood cemetery may get most of the attention, to me shockoe is the real jewel (hebrew cemetery, across the street, is impressive as well).

00Ymh2-362341584.JPG.8618c5e058e64b33a2caeb10b14989e6.JPG

Where hobbies merge. This is a humidor that I built. It is
constructed of resawn and book-matched zebra-wood panels framed in wenge. The
panels are backed by Spanish cedar to form the interior humidity-controlled
portion of the case. The lift out cigar boxes sit over a divided lower chamber.
The case will hold about 150 cigars. The front drawer is not
humidity-controlled and is for lighters, cutters and other cigar paraphernalia.
The case may be lifted off the base to carry it outside or to a table where guests
are sitting. The base is made of cherry and walnut. Construction is by saddle
joints and exposed mortise and tenon. Tenons are wedged with contrasting wood
to lock them in place. The Finish is polyurethane and wax. The walnut was
felled and sawn into dimensional stock by my father-in-law, my wife's
godfather, and myself and comes from the godfather's farm near Zamora, CA. The
godfather has since passed away. I used to enjoy his company very much. The
walnut tree was planted by the original homesteaders and was more than 120
years old at the time we cut it down. The tree was past its prime and needed to
be culled. I used some of the last of this wood to complete the project. The
wood has sentimental value for me. The photo ties together three things that I
enjoy; woodworking, smoking good cigars (and drinking good bourbon), and
photography. The photo was made with a D700 and a 24-70/2.8 at 35mm with
natural light from a nearby window. Thank you to those who commented on my
image last week. Your comments are always appreciated.

00YmhB-362345584.jpg.a88a9043948a94fd0dfce18ee253b561.jpg

Hey Nikon Bunch! Hope you had a good week and this one might be even better!
Not much of new photos this week since I got my new baby, a D7000, and I am just learning what this baby can do ( I had a D80). This photo is one of the tests in low lighting in my house. Talk to you soon and there goes my list of some of the beautiful photos, posted this week, that caught my attention-up to now that is. Take care!

We've had a lot of rain this week, making the ducks very happy. Over the last few days I've spotted the same group swimming (or maybe just floating) in puddles next to the hike/bike trail. We had more rain last night, so now I'm off to see if I can catch a few more photos.

00YmjT-362389584.jpg.a6eb5e04c458328f42f522d89f26c4b6.jpg

Happy wednesday all.
I'm really happy to be able to post from my new 2nd hand D300. Finally got a chance to just go wander about a bit and take some pics today. What a camera! Also got to try out my new Tamron 70-300 VC. At 300 massivly sharper than it's cheaper sibling. Bought partialy due to Shun's review.
This old guy was totally not savage inspite of how this looks.

00Ymjh-362393584.JPG.6c9af6072c01cc8002406ad0a6230d8e.JPG
