wayne_crider4
I'm over the mouse and probably need a tablet instead. I'm doing more editing and control is just not there for me anymore. Is there a solution that won't cost me an arm and leg? Can older tablets still be utilized?
Wayne on XP
david.wagle
Genius tablets aren't bad, and are quite affordable. But honestly, the watcom tablets are worth it.
monika_epsefass
Wacom has a refurbished store online, and that's where I bought my tablet for half the price. And Bamboos start at 90 EUR (new) for the cheapest one. I have a wireless A4 horizontal (which is not manufactured any longer, if I'm correct), and paid EUR 160 at the time. It was the best money I'd ever invested - and it has a mouse, if you need one. It's older, too, I've had it for three years and before I bought my Mac, and never caused a problem when updating, switching, etc.
JDMvW
Some older ones and lesser known brands will work, but as David and Monika have said, in the long run it's probably a good idea to go for the Wacom (link). At least I wish I had. It would have been cheaper in the long run.

peter_simpson1
I work at a Design company. A quick walk around the studio came up with nothing but Wacom. These are folks who make their livings drawing.
brian_ellis19
I've been using an Intuos III for 7-8 years with no problems. I don't really find it as useful as some do but it certainly has lasted a while. I'd stick with Wacom, their customer support has been terrific and that alone is worth a lot to me.
ian_murren
Get a wacom, you dont need a huge one (i've always been happy with 4x6" ones, and skip the bamboo, they're not as accurate, and that's why your buying one.
wayne_crider4
Thanks. I actually have a old CalComp drawing Slate II that I'm wondering if it will work for me. I'm looking into it now but am awaiting batteries for the pen which are too expensive locally, and well I needed a B&H order anyways. If it doesn't pan out I'll get a Wacom.
photo5
I worked for ten years as a professional photo editor working on film scans in Photoshop. For the first 3 years I used a mouse and others used tablets. I tried to use a tablet a couple times but couldn't get the hang of it. Then one day I had to use another computer that only had a tablet, and by the end of the day I was hooked. Never looked back, using a tablet to edit an image feels real natural and using a mouse feels weird. I bought a used Wacom on ebay for $20 after I left the company and use it at home when I am editing.
robert x
If price is an issue just get an old Wacom from ebay - Intuos2s are cheap as hell now and you often find one that says "barely used" etc.
I am thinking of getting a 4 at the moment, but am finding it hard to justify binning the old 2 that I use.
