RaymondC
I got a trip coming up ... I am looking for those bright neon lights (with reflections on the water). Do you get them at 6am or are the buildings still dark then? So is it sunset only or sunrise too?

Siam Square (Bangkok), Petrona (KLCC), Marina Bay and Fullurton Area (SG).

Cheers!
rashed_s
Sun Rise, is cooler in temperature and with a slow shutter speed you get very idle move of water and superb reflections, it is also nice to know that sun set at dusk time is very great, at dusk you will be able to record the building structure shapes because of the sky still maintaining light and in a calm un windy day, the water surface will for sure be a great mirror of reflection.
RaymondC
I am more referring to the building lights - at 6am are the building lights turned off? So it's better at sunset?
rachelle_m.
Ray, I've only been to Bangkok out of the places on your list (but I live and travel throughout Asia), and I'd say that by 6 a..m. the sky is getting light and most of the building lights are off by then. If you want classic shots of building lights then dusk is your best time -- the sky still has a bit of colour but provides reallly nice contrast to the lights.
RaymondC
Thanks, just as I thought, I was at the KL Twin Towers before, their lights were off so I was just hoping that the fountain lights were still on :-D

I have been looking at the weather data. Just before 7am is sunrise so I gathered 1hr before. Some blue is fine is better than all black sky.

More sleep then. I may get up for a wander nevertheless - places without the need of bright lights like the China Gardens could be nice thou .... in a silohoutte.

Thanks again.
hclim
The bright lights in KL are at Jalan Bukit Bintang (Bukit Bintang Street). There are practically no neon lights in KL.
jerry_sousa
Sunset... Tripod = Happy Hour. The neon lights are switched on in the evening for a reason; people going home see them. Likewise, people going out for the night.

Beware of transvestites.
maggie_sim
I think KLCC lights are turned off at 12am.. I remember that when I was at the pub opposite the twin tower.
