david.wagle
So I'm starting to build a site. I would like the ability to blog, post photos as galleries, and allow for private galleries that require sign in.

Can I get there using wordpress? What should I use for the photos? I want to be able to upload my photos from Lightroom3.
pbalko
Wordpress allows you to password protect individual posts. It also comes with it's own gallery engine. Many use the Nextgen Gallery plugin for gallery generation. I'm not convinced that Google is indexing my Nextgen OR WP gallery images, so I just recently began duplicating my galleries with LR html galleries in a separate folder, displaying them with the Shadowbox plugin.

There may or may not be a plugin for uploading LR galleries or photos, but I find it just as easy to export and upload my individual photos through the WP uploader, and to FTP my LR galleries directly to their folder. If you're concerned about SEO, I'm under the impression that titles, descriptions and alt descriptions are more important than tags.

You can get to my site through my Pnet profile to check it out. The most recent post is only a video, but the 2 or 3 posts before that link to both WP and LR galleries.
