lisae
It's been a very busy week at my house, but yesterday I decided I needed some time for my camera. So I grabbed an orange and my flash, set everything up next to the dining room window, and worked on more food photography. It was a great way to relieve the stress of the week.

dan_brown4
Wayne wrote:

Dan ,did you use a ringlight for that shot? Truly awesome.

Thank you.

I used two softboxes left and right of the lens, all crunched together as close as possible. The trick was getting some light down the barrel, and it helped that the gun as was a snub-nosed revolver. Even then, I had the increase the brightness of the barrel-bullet in post. Also, note the blown highlights in the front of the gun. Back drop is woodland camo fabric from Wal-Mart, placed a few feet back to drop its brightness a couple stops.

thadley
This one was taken a few days ago and despite a warm late afternoon look, it was bitingly cold. My attraction was the texture and patterns of the snow.

dallasmcvickerphotography
Hello Everyone,
I haven't posted in a long time, came back around wanted to share. dan_brown4
Pretty much all the pictures look great to me!
But, I have decided to comment on a few that I think are great.

Jens Frederiksen: Very pleasing surreal image. Warm tones, but cold, distant plume enhances coldness, nice composition.

David Tisker: Nice for framing on the wall. High contrast, rugged, geometric, simple. I like it a lot.

Lionel Linton: Great composition, mono-chromatic, simple, snow-covered, the footsteps subtly draw you in. I would hang that on my wall for sure.

Aguinado de Paula: Colors pop, fish is very interesting, but the boy's inquisitive look mirrors the viewers curious study of the fish. Bravo on that one.

Elliot Bernstein: Other than the dark object in the lower-right corner, great image. I can't decide if I love the picture, fear the dog, or will ever satisfy my curiosity about that moment?

Daniel Pope: Just cool :-)

Don Harper: Wow, that's in a whole other class. It might not be fair for you to compete here ;-)

don_harper_the_edge
Thanks Jennifer and Dan.
Dan your comment is funny from my perspective as I just learned this photo didn't even qualify in a professional photography competition. Judging photography and art really is very subjective.
I look at this thread as sharing rather than competing as the range of skills displayed here is really the full spectrum of from beginners to pros, all General Audience subjects and on a not infrequent basis truly amazing photos of all types. This is the place for fun and a chance for all of us to share. I think the thing we all have in common is that desire to say "Hey Look at what I saw and captured".
