World class photographer using Olympus...?

I sold my beaten Nikon F90 for Oly E420 with 25/2.8 lens. The focusing speed is the same but sound is quieter. (BTW F90 is a FAST camera). And with 2.8 lens it focuses well in rather low light condition. The VF is so small!((( But small dimensions and lightweight compensate all this. Oly is wanted to take everywhere, Nikon is not. Nukon weights like a brick. And noisy. I attached a UV filter and do not use that screw-type strange cap.

I do weddings, portraits, sport and news/media work. www.mickdavsonphotography.com I Use Olympus (E3). The 4/3 format gives me the greatest freedom in composing and cropping pics into all different ratios - 5x7, 8x10 and 6x4. The 2x crop factor is excellent. ISO is an issue in lower light but you work around that easily enough. I also find the colours and tones of the Oly marry well with my style.

Yes, most photographers have fallen prey to the all the marketing/advertising of Canon and Nikon and have created a false consensus reality that professional only use these 2 profiteering companies.

Yes, I also own a Canon and have owned a Nikon and they are both good. Nowadays, all DSLRs are pretty decent and it is now more about your artistry and creativity than who has the "best" camera. Would you rather have Bart Simpson on the most expensive Canon or would you rather have Pablo Picasso on an old-fashioned Polaroid? I'd go with Picasso.

The reason I am now with an Olympus E-520 is because it has more technology and features compared to other brands in this class of camera. A Canon Rebel is very nice but it is more expensive, bulkier and doesn't have Image Stab. or Self-Cleaning features that the Olympus.

Plus, why would I want to be the same as every other photographer with the same camera? The Olympus actually produces a more colorful/vivid photo and is the smallest DSLR out there. Free your mind, be unique... I'm not bashing Canon/Nikon - they are good also, but there is a whole other world of equipment and often times more advanced technology outside the Big 2.

Not only Canon and Nikon but also at least some independants such as Sigma. Perhaps not relevant to weddings but some of the longer-focal-length primes and zooms cost up to 25% more than I paid for my first house 40 years ago. Money has gone down in value but not by that much!
