Gus Lazzari
A few Type A Double Shoes are still available! for $149
February 2006 UPDATE: Cosina discontinued the Type B and C Double Shoes.

12mm Viewfinder and Sprit Level mounted on Double Shoe

Like many of the Voigtlander accessories, these are quite unusual. There are 3 different shoes, Types A, B, or C (right to left above). They do NOT have hot shoes. These allow you to double up on the accessories of your choice, such as a finder and a VC meter, a VC meter and the angle finder, a VC meter and a flash, a regular finder and an angle finder (shown below), a wide finder and the low angle finder, or a wide finder and the bubble spirit finder. The double accessory shoe is not quite wide enough to mount two wide angle finders side by side, but it is wide enough to mount a wide angle finder alongside the 50, 75, or 90 finders. NOT suggested is using the double accessory shoe to mount a flash. #1 the Flash will likely be too wide to allow you to mount anything else in the other accessory shoe. #2 mounting a flash in the outermost accessory shoe will likely put too much leveraged strain on ANY flash shoe. #3 this is NOT a hot shoe -- it is NOT intended to mount a flash!
All three accessory shoe adapters have the same length and width -- theonly difference is the height of the mounting shoe. The bottom of the mounted shoes are coated in plastic, so they won't scratch the top of your camera. IF you have a mixture of cameras and want to save a few bucks on Double Accessory shoes, the Type C will fit on practically all 35mm cameras. The disadvantage of this solution is that the higher finder height will also in increased parallax at closer focus distances.

Type A is for relatively flat topped cameras like the Bessa R, R2, R2S, R2C, Leica screw mounts and the Leica M's, having a mount height of 4 mm.

Type B has a mount height of 7 mm, works with the Bessa T or Nikon Rangefinders

Type C has a mount height of 10 mm and fits the Bessa L, Contax II or III or meterless Kiev Contax.

Repeat : Even with the high quality of these accessories, it's NOT suggested to use the double accessory shoes to mount a flash !
They aren't hot shoes and besides, a flash bracket is always best.
aplumpton
Marco,

Apart from the possible used market, the aparently discontinued Voigtlander type A double shoe (double shoe and not double hot shoe) is still for sale here:

http://www.cameraquest.com/voigtacc.htm#Double%20Accessory%20Shoe

There may be other retail stores with the item. You may want to be sure that the top plate and controls of your camera will accept the double shoe, as mentioned in the link.

Oops, I didn't see Gus' post.
marco_novello
I have a small remote trigger by mycrosync in the camera that triggers a sunpak off camera flash. I want to use same combo on Mamiya 7 but the 43 lens needs the additional viewfinder. How can I operate both? Apart from getting a cable ..
paul_wheatland
Use the "cold" shoe on your camera to deal with the finder. Use a grip and ELL bracket with a cord and Strobe and connect to the PC port. I've never been a fan of double brackets on the top deck of any of my cameras....... plus you want the flash tube as far away from the lens to diminish "red eye".
richard_bud
Can't get there from here.
I use a 21mm f2.8 Leica ASPH on my M6 with Metz handle flash connected to the synch port. The Metz is set to A(AUTO), 21mm coverage and this setup works quite well. I don't use an M7 with TTL because you can't get TTL through the synch port. There is one guy that does make shoes with double synch but I just didn't think he could do TTL.
Anyway this is how I do it.-Dick
aplumpton
Marco, I think you can use the slave trigger and VF on the double shoe (the slave will have to be connected to the PC port by cable) but you would definitely have to check the horizontal dimensions of both to be sure that they can sit together.

Shooting with an effective 21mm very wide angle of view lens is something with a single flash, unless you have a bare bulb, a Sunpak diffuser module (for the 622), or are bouncing the flash.
