porter Posted February 7, 2011 Author Share Posted February 7, 2011
Another shot of the same beach, processed differently. Other one was at 70mm effective, this is at 120mm effective.

<a title="Untitled by Patrick E Porter, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5173/5424934917_84899bcea9_z.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="480" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

johnfarrar Posted February 7, 2011 Share Posted February 7, 2011
Thanks Patrick - the rock formation is separated from the grass by a 700 metre drop and over a kilometre - it's quite big! Where are those lovely sandstone rocks of yours?
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
beerbrain_ronny_perry Posted February 7, 2011 Share Posted February 7, 2011
Here are a few from Birmingham , Alabama at Sloss Furnace. a incredible place to shoot at a real Iron foundry...National Landmark, about 3 hour drive from Nashville. I have been several times over the years and see different things each shoot. I used a Panasonic G1 with Voigtlander 21mm and a Jupiter 8 50mm LTM Russian lens.
http://www.slossfurnaces.com/

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

porter Posted February 10, 2011 Author Share Posted February 10, 2011
The new lens :D It back focused a bit, but +9 compensation seems to have sorted it out nicely.

<a title="Untitled by Patrick E Porter, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5252/5433837960_73fbdfe606_z.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="480" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
porter Posted February 10, 2011 Author Share Posted February 10, 2011
Panasonic wide open. porter Posted February 11, 2011 Author Share Posted February 11, 2011
Love your shots Ronny. What do you process your images with?
Personally, I don't have the usual editing software such as lightroom/photoshop, so I have to resort to GIMP and Nikon Capture NX2.

A real picture with the E5/25mm f/1.4 Panasonic. Shot at f/8, image stabilization turned off.

<a title="Untitled by Patrick E Porter, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/5436214226_d70454ae03_z.jpg" alt="" width="640" height="480" />
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

beerbrain_ronny_perry Posted February 12, 2011 Share Posted February 12, 2011
Patrick I use Photoshop CS2,,the look of the photo is more how I have the parameters of the camera setup.I'm a jpg shooter so it is like I'm shooting slide film, I expose for the bright areas to hold detail, and have my Panasonics(LX3 & G1) set to nostalgic, which is not as a punchy color setting then I have the saturation,sharpnes contrast +1, I keep the camera at -1/3 exp comp,to insure no highlight blowout,then just adjust the histogram in PS. I then add some black punch level with Pixel Genuis Photokit to give more depth with the added black level. The Panasonics have a look that I really like. Thanks
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
porter Posted February 12, 2011 Author Share Posted February 12, 2011
Interesting, Ronny. Perhaps my next m4/3 camera will be Panasonic. Well, it most likely would have been anyways :P

I will wait at least until December 2011 before buying a new body though! I switch cameras too far too often.
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sanford Posted February 12, 2011 Share Posted February 12, 2011
Trying Beerbrain's trick. Nostalgic, Saturation +2, everything else at zero. Backed off the red & yellow in post.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
