parv
LumoPro LP160 is the one you should buy (if flash shoe match with the camera thot shoe).

model mayhem gallery
never used or hear of lumopro. Have heard excellent reviews of Sigma and Sigma is slave master compatible with canon flashes. So I would go Sigma.
parv
I am surprised & much disappointed that no one neither had protested that how I could recommend a flash given lack of information, nor did ask for justification. Josef, if you care a bit about TTL support and/or having a flash to be controlled by your camera, get the Sigma one. I would suggest "Super" version though (based on differences in Minolta versions when I compared the specifications of Super & non-Super versions w.r.t HSS & wireless use). If you want to or can work with all manual flash, get the LumoPro one. In USA, Midwest Photo Exchange (MPEX; not to be confused with MPIX) had sold, and possibly still is selling, LP 160 flash with 2-year warranty. Having that out of the way, please do consider buying a system flash, though expensive, as your first flash. It would be fully compatible with your camera & can be of much help in situations where a non-system flash would fall short. Ed, $200 thing is inexpensive in comparison to $300 thing. yjawhar
@Parv.. Thank you very much for your detailed response.. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer! :D I don't think I need TTL.. I'm a big believer in Manual.. I need to learn everything manual then go on to automatic. I guess your reply says it all.. I'm gonna go with the LumoPro!! It's 170$ incl. shipping on MPEX.. which is the only website that sells LumoPro LP160! :S

Don't get me wrong.. I would love to get a canon 580EX II but.. it's a bit too expensive for me right now, and with the LP I get the same amount of power w/ about 1/2 the money.. and since I'm gonna be using it off camera, then I don't think I'm gonna need the E-ttl II anyways! :D
Thanks again.
