London Camera Exchange

<p>Just a quick question. Has anyone got any experience of buying used equipment from the London Camera Exchange?, as I've got my eye on a particular lens which is available at a very good price, i was just wondering what they are like to deal with? i.e. are they helpfull if you need to send an item back for refund etc.</p>

I have had a couple of dealings with their Lincoln branch and found them knowledgeable and helpful.

<p>I've dealt with the Nottingham branch, and they are very helpful, my only gripe was that they insist on sending the purchase to the card address, not great if you work through the day, and I have had many problems over the years dealing with their couriers initial citylink, both as client and customer.<br>

So long as you can get them to send it to an address where you'll be when delivery is due then you should be fine, no problems at all dealing with LCE themselves.</p>

<p>I've been to the Reading branch a couple of times, they seemed knowledgable and helpful.</p>

In years past, I went to the one at Manchester, in Piccadilly, and they were helpful and friendly as well. Haven't had any recent dealings with them though.

<p>Obviously these things are very branch dependant. For several years while I was a student I used to frequent the Civic centre branch of LCE in southampton. They were the local canon pro centre so the staff were knowledgeable, not pushy and condescending (as many high-street shop employees can be on technical products). They would also cut good deals and between the various photographically active members of the family we spent a lot of money with them in preference to shops elsewhere. </p>

<p>IMO not a reasonable gripe. This is standard practice for most retailers and for good reason...to mitigate against card fraud.</p>
