Photo A Day / 365 Projects in 2011

Recommended Posts

Happy new year my PN friends. I just finished my first 365 project and am curious if any of you have a photo-a-day website or 365 website for 2011. If you do, I'd love to follow, or if you know of any good sites I wish you would share. Some of the ones I followed last year were excellent but I'd like to see some new ones this year.

Hope 2011 is the best ever for you and your family.

Here is my 365 Project for 2010. I'm sure I'll be updating it in the coming days in order to get ready for 2011:

I had to put down my own dog a couple years ago so I know how you must be feeling. I enjoyed your photos last year and I see you're going forward for another year. I'm personally going to take a little time off after doing my own photo a day project - the last two months just became a bit too much of a grind and I really wasn't satisfied with a lot of the photos. Overall, though, I'm glad I did the 365 project. I just went through all the photos this morning and found about 60 that I like enough to have printed out. Best of luck with your 365 project for 2011.

Good start Brian. HDR is something I haven't played with yet, myself. Among my tips: Try to get your photo early in the day before daily life starts taking a toll on your time, vary your routes to and from work if possible, keep mental or physical notes of photo ideas that you can shoot on days when you're not feeling creative or are pressed for time, get out of your car and walk as much as possible, look for abstacts and macro scenes, focus on getting one shot a day - not having to come up with 365 pictures, don't get discouraged by the occasional bad shots and - finally - keep a camera with you at all times. Best of luck on your 365 project

I did a search for 365 projects on here. I've just begun mine Jan 1. I wondered if people put together books of their year when they're finished. I think that when each month is done I may pick one highlight photo for a full page, and then do a thumbnail composite of the rest. Then at the end of the year I could have a book printed for my own archive.

I've been posting on Flickr:

Some of them show up darker on different computers. So, hopefully you can see them okay on yours. It's a tricky project. I'm trying not to make it too difficult or too much of a burden. But, I want to take photos that allow me to grow instead of taking a photo just for the sake of snapping a picture. So even on days where I take a photo of my dinner, or an interesting display in a store, I'm trying to at least compose it well.

Then other days I have the opportunity to make loads of images, then its tough to pick which one will represent my day!

I love browsing through the albums of others. I think the 365 self portrait challenge would be very difficult. Still, I've looked through albums showcasing that approach and have enjoyed them too!
