mountainvisions

Colvin is beautiful, Justin. A good pal. And what's up? Those boots and crampons look pretty shiny! Spending too much time at the "beach" are we??

Thanks! He definitely is a good looking boy, and a really good dog too, loyal and obedient! Other than not knowing when to leave the dog savvy cat alone and not being quite the climber Caney was, I can't think of anything I could complain about!

The boots were new for sure! Only my 3rd or 4th trip in them (the photo is from 2009 actually), usually it's either too cold for insulated leathers or too warm. So these boots are always the odd man out between my much lighter non insulated boots or my plastic double boots, made it a point of hiking in them this fall just to continue the break-in/fit tweaking!

Crampons...I've got a collection of crampons! M10s in mono point for vertical ice and mixed climbing, 10 pointers for general mountaineering/trailed hiking which are pretty much toast after 10 years, Lowe foot fangs that have mostly been retired but are still great for beating up pure vertical ice, and then these BD Sabertooths which are my "I have no idea what we are doing, might be climbing, might be hiking, might be covering technical terrain..." crampons! They are the newest of the bunch! If you only have one crampon, the Sabertooths are the ones to have in my opinion!

agardner58
@ Nick Siebers: Thanks! I'm pretty sure it's a Lightroom preset I downloaded...not sure which though.

@ Christopher S.: Neither Greenpoint or LIC, it's actually the southern end of Park Slope, Brooklyn. Actually this block has been very well documented by a famous photographer, Bruce Davidson, in "Brooklyn Gang". The houses in my photo can be seen across the street on the left in this photo from the book: 17th Street photo by Bruce Davidson. I've only known the neighborhood for less than 35 years, much of it still looks the same as then, although that is starting to change.
agardner58
Just looked at the Davidson photo again, the tenement half way down the block on the left was torn down a number of years ago, a modern 3 story building rose in its place. The the intersection in the photo only got a traffic light in the last few months.
