Tired of all those tropical shots of people enjoying the beach, I decided just because it's 6F doesn't mean we aren't just as entitled to spend a day relaxing on the shoreline!
Little Colvin is growing up so fast! Now at what we hope is a full grown 60lbs! He only weighs 10lbs more than Caney but seems a lot bigger, but he's also a lot taller (as you can probably see). Funny thing is, he'll squeeze into any space we provide for him, while Caney would make it clear he expected 1/3-1/2 of everything, so he actually takes up less space in the tent/car/couch/etc.

Parade Practice is cool, Garry!

I took Dad over to DC on Wednesday for a reception recognizing his cousin's career service at the Department of Justice. Fiscal conservatives would have been delighted by the food (cheese & crackers and a grape or two on paper plates)--unless they were hungry. Fortunately, I was prepared with the K-5 and Tamron 28-75mm for a surprise photo op with the Attorney General of the US.

I'm still slowly getting through photos from my trip to Paris last month. These were taken with the K7 and either DA 16-45 or FA 24-90.

Wow, nice stuff gang.
Colvin is beautiful, Justin. A good pal. And what's up? Those boots and crampons look pretty shiny! Spending too much time at the "beach" are we??
Markus, I noticed the butterfly house in the second shot. I made some of those for my family last christmas...no-one knew what they were, oh well. Love the snow shots.
Garry, your stuff gets better every time I look...good on you!
Cudos to all the rest. A nice way to start my Sunday.

Here's one from me. I'm working on learning to photograph my instruments better. It's an interesting struggle. Too many shiny surfaces and odd angles but I'm getting there.

00Xsiw-312839584.jpg.024d4ba4056509042618e963f2b48e7e.jpg

That "day at the beach" shot is just great.

I lead an offroad trip out to the Anza Borrego Desert in Southern California on Saturday for the local Xterra club. It was cold and raining when we left San Diego, but the desert temps were in the high 60's F, with some really nice clouds. Here's 17 Palms Oasis. K20D, DA16-45 at 34, 1/200 sec at f/8.0, ISO 100.

At the end of the day the sky started to turn pink. Here's a shot as the last 2 of us were driving out towards the pavement. K20D, DA10-17FE at 17, 1/80 sec at f/5.0, ISO 400, handheld with right hand while driving with left hand (probably not a smart idea actually).

When we stopped to reinflate our tires I pulled out the tripod and got this shot of the moon rising over the desert. The sky really did look that pinkish color. K20D, DA10-17FE at 17, 4/10 sec at f/9.0, ISO 100. In retrospect I should have switched back to the 16-45 so I could have had a straighter horizon, but that never occurred to me at the time.
