knifeinthewater
So basically, I am approaching my last year at university, starting to think about what I will do after, looking back on 3 years of my life and reflecting on whatever “accomplishments” there have been, or indeed not been. Anyway, one of the conclusions that I've come to, and this has been eating away at me for quite a while now, is that I have never, or almost never, been able to do something at school that was completely driven by me, something totally mine. When I first started photography I just installed an enlarger in my basement and did whatever I wanted to, and though the technique was bad, and the work was naïve, it still gave me more pleasure than what I derive from my photography now. Therefore I see this project almost as if recapturing some sort of faith I had in myself before, which going to an art school has slowly eaten away at. It is also an attempt to create something outside of the academic environment, and indeed on another continent, one that I have never been to before, and have had no relationship with thus far.

I'm applying for some grants, but so far all the responses have been negative, so I decided to give Indie Go Go a try. If anyone sees any value in this project, and is interested in helping a young artist out, your contribution would be fantastically welcome.

http://www.indiegogo.com/South-Africa-Post-World-Cup-Tremors

thanks a lot,

oskar
