A happy Wednesday to you, Nikon folk. A young couple I know got engaged a week ago. He popped the question in a pumpkin patch, and we returned to the scene this weekend to start a day of engagement shooting. The early morning light was cooperative, and the couple sure didn't need a moment's coaching. It's possible I'm a romantic after all. Have you had your Nikon gear out to capture something sentimental? Share a photo!

00XYvJ-294667584.jpg.1cf238e4d0a2a4da964a5099822ccf73.jpg

Cricket was washed out! I was surprised to see how much detail is still recorded when the entire outer surface of the UV lens is covered with water droplets. This shot was taken in the 6th over before driving rain caused play to be abandoned for the day.

Camera: Nikon D300

Chaplain at Arlington National Cemetery with Firing Party in background.
Nikon D3 70-200mm at 200mm f5.6 at ISO 1/1600 sec 400.
This is from last year, but just caught my attention as I was skimming some older images.
On another note the colors at Arlington should peak at the end of the week if the wind doesn't strip them off tonight. I saw some nice color there today, but just a tad early.

00XYvi-294675584.jpg.44762f6b52a9a96704930807daa1018c.jpg

Good day to everyone and some fascinating images so far. Last Friday, even though the fall colors on the trees seemed to be past their peak I ventured out and ended up on the Kancamagus highway through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. The weather was not the greatest - mostly overcast with some light snow flurries. Managed to get this river/Falls scene.

00XYvo-294677584.jpg.b95146061a0c9bd2b554b1b7e251cc2c.jpg

Hi everyone,
another Wednesday already - gee the weeks are speeding by.
My picture this week was taken on the Ballan Mt Edgerton Road in Victoria. I like how the smaller tree is shaped just like a feeding emu. Well, to my eyes anyway.
Have a great week

00XYwG-294689784.JPG.7c0a59e88a4587a6f0a4866a7e08013b.JPG

Jellybean again. Turns out he's a lovebird, not a conure, and might not even be a he. Apparently lovebirds are difficult to sex. Either way, he/she is an amusing critter. I considered naming him/her Lady Gaga or Boy George but Jellybean's singing voice is closer to Yoko Ono.

Still getting re-acquainted with a long neglected Vivitar Series 1 70-210/2.8-4 AI-S compatible zoom that features true continuous close focusing to around 1:3, very handy compared with those annoying "macro mode" zooms that demand pushing a button and twisted a collar while disabling refocusing to infinity. Not bad for the $50 or $60 I paid for it in a pawn shop almost 10 years ago. Haven't used it nearly enough. I'd started out using the 180/2.8 Nikkor with an M2 extension tube (the older 180/2.8 Nikkor doesn't focus very closely), but Jellybean was moving around too much beyond the maximum focus range of only around 3-7 feet or so. So I switched to the Vivitar.

00XYwf-294697684.jpg.ccb68d5c7b1bf2152b6e554a9b3d42fe.jpg
