stacy
This might not really belong here, but seems like lots of you have scanner knowledge so I'll give it a go!
I started experimenting yesterday with overlaying negatives and scanning them with my cheapy film scanner. I like the effect, but I wish I could get the color a bit more realistic and less grainy. I played with all the color controls in the scanner software, but still very blue, grainy, and blown out in spots.
Any suggestions for doing this better? I'm kind of obsessing over it :) Thanks!

q.g._de_bakker
Stacey,

There is an extremely simple solution: scan the negatives separately and combine them later.
;-)
stacy
Peter do you mean a gel of some sort?
Q.G. - ha, yes that would be easier, but seems like cheating- and not nearly as random :)
q.g._de_bakker
Why would that be cheating?

And why not as random? When you put to negatives on top of each other, you can see how they combine within the frame.
When you put them through the scanner separately, you will have to wait to see how they combine when stacking them later.

Re the quality issues: your scanner probably has difficulty dealing with the double densities. The graininess could well be scanner noise. Etc.

Now if you would scan the images separateley... ;-)
peterbcarter
Stacy, I meant the effect would be like adding orange filters. Cyan seems to be opposite (correct me if I am wrong).
