ron_giles
Not sure this is the right Category, but I have a Nikon 200-400-- F4/g VR lens. I need a trunk case versus the soft case for a trip I will be taking. Which of the Nikon Truck Cases will work with this lens. Thanks
robert_hooper1
I don't know about a Nikon trunk case, but why not an appropriately sized Pelican case?
kfoster70
I would also suggest a Pelican case.

However, I found a aluminum trunk case at B&H made by Nikon. Its for all Nikon Super telephoto lenses. Its the Nikon CT-F1 model # 4919. It its these lenses.

Nikon 200-400mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S VR lens

Nikon 200mm f/2G ED-IF AF-S VR lens

Nikon 300mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR lens

Nikon 300mm f/4D ED-IF AF-S lens

Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S VR lens

joseph_smith3
A Nanuk hard case might work, maybe the 930. You can carry it on an airplane. It costs less than the trunk case ay B&H. I would think that L and W is not the issue, but the H or depth.
http://naturescapes.net/retail/nanuk-build-your-own-case-chart.html

Joe Smith

ilkka_nissila
As Kevin noted, Nikon makes the CT-F1 which can take one of the big teles up to 200-400/4 AF-S (the 200/2 and 300/2.8 fit with their soft cases and camera body, or I guess you can use the padding that comes with the trunk case instead of the soft case of the lens if you want the lens to be quicker to take out and put in), or the 300/4+70-200 simultaneously. It comes with adjustable padding. It's expensive but the fact that it's designed to accommodate all these lenses without customisation by the user saves time and trouble. I have one and I want another but the price is a bit of a put-off ;-)
davebecker
I sure wouldn't want Nikon written all over my case. I use a Pelican and cut the foam to fit. Add a couple of Pelilocks as well if you feel it will provide added security.
