HELP - EOS 5 Command Dial

Hi all,
just joined this forum to ask a question about a Canon EOS 5 camera I have just acquired as part of a mixed lot of photo gear.
The command dial (far left of the camera top plate) locks in the lock position as it should, and sort of locks in the P (program) position, but does not lock or even click as you go through all the other positions - Tv, Av, M, Dep, X, Cf, Cal, or if you go in the other direction from "lock" it does not lock / click through Portrait, Landscape, Close-up, Sport settings. Is this normal, or do I have a faulty camera?
If anyone still owns an EOS 5, or owned one and can remember how it worked, I'd appreciate an answer.
Thanks and regards,
Graham

The "command dial failure" was an unfortunately common occurrence in the EOS 5 / A2. I don't think it's user-repairable. Since you're using the European designation I assume you're not in the States, so I won't bother giving you a recommendation for repair on this side of the pond. Where are you located, maybe another photo.net member can give you a name.

I always felt that this was such a widespread problem that Canon should have admitted to a design flaw and fixed this for free, but Canon didn't agree with me.
