<p>@Josiah, Robert. I reckon that's halation, not flare. Look at the negative, and tell me whether the dark streak/patch extends beyond the image area. If so, your Nokton's reputation is unsullied!</p>

I checked the negative and the errant photons are entirely within the deliberately exposed portion of the negative. They do not extend beyond the 'negative.'<br>

I conclude that my Nokton 50/1.1 has been 'sullied.'<br>

<p>@Josiah. Fair enough. I have definitely misjudged my Summicron 50 in the past, though. It does flare rather easily, but the film (or possibly the shiny pressure plate?) is often equally to blame.</p>
