Mike Gammill
Hard to beat (at least for film) is the XA-2. Usually it's a bargain because most XA enthusiasts want the original XA with its rangefinder and f2.8 lens. The XA-4 is pricey because of its 28mm lens. The XA-2, while zone focus programmed exposure has limited control, I've seen 'em go for under 5 USD at some places. Great quality compact (at single use prices) to keep in your pocket.

tim_kohlman
agreed, the XA-2 is a champ the lens is surprisingly good. I actually have both an XA and an XA-2 and I prefer the XA-2 because it's quicker to use (the XA rangefinder is very poor imo and difficult to focus), I just use the zone focusing and a 400iso film so that it uses a smaller aperture and gives me enough DOF to negate any focusing inaccuracies. If I want aperture priority/manual or pinpoint focusing I pack an OM.

I took it traveling in S/E Asia along with Olympus OM gear, and it was great for wandering around the markets and taking people shots as it's very unobtrusive - people tend to get less intimidated pointing an XA at them rather than a SLR and are happier to pose for you, you're also less of a target for thieves. It's easy to use on the move and easy to shoot from the hip.

The only bad thing I have to say is 800iso max sucks as I love my neopan 1600 and can't use it with this camera.
Mike Gammill
I have 4 XA-2's (2 working), an XA-3, and XA-1, and an XA. The XA-2's are the go anywhere, any pocket, and great for from the hip shooting. I turn it upside down and press up on the shutter. Also, the self timer is great for interior shots to release the camera without shaking it.
