will wall
I dug the deardorff out and hauled it up to the top of the Bromo Seltzer tower in Baltimore. Tmax and a 14" Ektar commercial.

robert meier
Great views, but I wish you'd dropped the lens to put the horizon at the top edge so we could see more of the city.
dave_s
LOL, reminds me of Margaret Bourke-White on the Chrysler Building! Has a retro feel. I like the horizon where it is.
frank_menesdorfer
Yes defenetelly retro but, somehow I like the Suthward better as it has more action, or fells that way for me. Like the horizon to as it is, as its so clean. Clouds would drow attention. But both are nice.
david_l3
Very Nice. I spend part of my time in Baltimore but I haven't taken my Deardorff.

wentbackward
Yes like the suth'ard view! Should take more photos for the hell of it me thinks.
will wall
Thanks for the feedback! I have some more negs which I haven't gotten around to scanning yet. With the sun in the west, I was able to get N S and E. Not having used the 8X10 in a few years I was pretty conservative with the boards for fear of finding vignette. The roof of the tower-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emerson_Bromo-Seltzer_Tower
is actually pretty small and has some aeriel support wires crossing it. That combined with not wanting to stand next to the open crenulations played a larger part in composition than I care to think about :-)
The edge of the first stadium in the south view is Camden yards. It's to bad that the Hilton was in the way. When originally built the fans had a great view of the Bromo tower which is a Baltimore Icon. Now they get a big white box. In the end I was just happy to still have my dark cloth after fighting the wind for it the whole time.
Here's one from inside the clock face.

david_l3
Will, you make it look like using a Deardorff is like riding a bike, you don't forget after you learn. The Clock Mechanism is cool, both your photo and the subject. I enjoyed picking out familiar places in the rooftop photos. Post more when you can.
barry schmetter
The second shot is just beautiful--reminds why large format is worth the effort. I love how you see a section of the clock face in the background; it ties the whole image together.
wogears
Yup, that picture of the gears is truly fine. The little clock face and the huge one are a great contrast.
