User_502260
Shots 3 and 4 look like there was a shutter or scanner problem. My M42 Mamiya i sthe opposite. I have a 500 DTL with a silver and black 55/1.4. When the meter is working on the DTLs you pull the film advance lever away from the body by pressing the button in its center. Then you push the lever toward the body to meter. There is no annoying clicking like you have with a Spotmatic. I thought about my DTL recently when I got an Olympus OM 2000. The DTL switches from averaging to spot metering. The OM 2000 switches from center weighted to spot. When you look at the 55/1.4 and 55/1.8 Mamiya lenses and compare them to the 50/1.4 and 55/1.8 Super Takumars, you see that the Takumars are more compact but the Mamiya lenses have their own beauty. I especially like the script mm marking on the front of your lens. I haven't used my DTL in a while but to borrow a phrase from eBay "The last time I used it the meter worked."
User_4525289
I personally like Mamyia 50/2 the most of all 50 mm M42 lenses I have.
rick_drawbridge
Ah, a camera I really like, and my everyday meter, together! That's a very fine lens, and you've produced some photographs to match. Great tones; the tower in #9 and the wall in #6 are impressively sharp. The finish to the Mamiya cameras and lenses are of a consistently high standard in my experience, and I like the clean styling of the two DTL models. And don't shout too loudly about the Shepherd DM-170 or everyone will want one....
Mike Gammill
Great shots and thanks for posting. Brings back memories. I learned SLR photography with my dad's Mamiya Sekor 1000 TL with 55 mm f1.4 lens. He also had a Vivitar 85-205 f3.8 zoom which I used to shoot high school football pictures from the sidelines. This was around 1970 or 1971.
JDMvW
Very nice, both camera and shots.

The camera shows some of its Mamiya heritage. There's a nice discussion of some of its predecessors at link.
JTG1
Jeff - not sure, this is also on the film, but only on those two shots.
I'm pleased with the end results and can see using this again another day.

Rick - The meter is great, I'm surprised I don't hear more about them, they are inexpensive.

You know, this forum should have a POW or POM? Just imagine all these fine cameras actually getting used more! :)

Thanks everyone else!

Best Regards,
Jack
