anthea50 Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010
Hi everyone - today I had the opportunity to photograph a steam train at our local train station. Apparently, they run steam trains for a few days every year so the train drivers can keep their steam train licences. Very cool! Actually, there were about five photographers all together positioned at different vantage points, with cameras ranging from P&S to Cannons, to a 35mm film camera but it was all about the trains. Also heaps of people on the platform, lots of kids too, all waiting to catch the train, which was just going on the regular route. The carrages were the usual modern ones.
So I thought I'd post my favourite one, and invite you all to post your favourite train images (steam or other wise) or just whatever you've shot this week.

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

rapyke Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010
Lovely images... I think it's great they actually run steam engines so the engineers can keep their steam qualifications...

I find that I have a lot of train station images, but not so many actual trains... So, I will go with a quite blurry train and hope the atmosphere makes it work.

Morning Freight
Early morning freight train passing full speed through the station in Mjölby, Sweden. godfrey Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010
Nice train, Gerry. ;-)

I love trains. I have a whole set of photos I should work on surrounding the train world. Like so many projects, 'one of these days'.

Here's a favorite from 2008:

<a title="Train by Godfrey DiGiorgi, on Flickr" href=" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3171/2605553110_2f5cfbe560_o.jpg" alt="Train" width="621" height="818" />

Train - San Bruno BART Station 2008
Olympus E-1 + ZD 35mm f/3.5 Macro
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
