New Nikon owner from South Africa

<p>Hi, everyone! I'm new to this forum and also a proud (and new) Nikon D40 owner...only problem is, I have no idea how to use my camera - it's much more complicated than a p&s! So, anyone up for a challenge to help me to get to know my camera, and answering LOTS of questions, please let me know!</p>

Welcome to a really fun and challenging hobby. Between the articles online, ( some good ones here) local photo magazines, and some fun half day courses, I'm sure we can get you up and running.<br>

Let us know where in SA you are, and maybe I can refer you to a local photo club as well.</p>

<p>Hi, Wayne, I'm in George. I will definitely keep an eye open on the forum and magazines and so on. It's good to know, however, that there are real life people out here on the forum to ask questions to!!!!</p>

<p>Plenty here who are quite knowledgable.<br>

But also, I see there is a photography club in George. Maybe drop them a message and see what they are about (<strong>George Camera Club </strong><br /> PO Box 2552, Mossel Bay, 6550).<br>

But the 2 local mags (Pix and Camera & image) have been running some good tutorials. And plenty of articles under the learning tab here.<br>

But, the best way to really learn your camera, is to use it. Even if it's stuff that is not photo worthy. The joy of digital is it costs nothing to take pics and experiment. Also, it's great to find like minded people and do outings. Really fun sometimes.</p>
