Hi folks!

Last night I posted for the first time regarding a question I had and received numerous helpful replies! I thought I should check in here to officially introduce myself since this looks like it will become a regular stomping ground!

I have been in and out of still photography for most of my life. I think my first camera was a hand-me-down Brownie-Hawkeye that I began using in the late sixties! Anyway, intrest would come and go as I followed other pursuits. For the last 20 plus years I have been employed as a videographer at a local TV news station. Over the last few years, the local news arena has really hit the skids. Thanks to poor management, the interwebs and other factors the heyday of broadcast news is over. Every year there are less and less people that watch their local news... even as we continue to put more product on the air. The future will be made up of web-cams and one-man-bands.

So once again, I have re-discovered my fondness for shooting stills. The camera is a lot lighter than the 24 lbs that usually sits on my shoulder and I can take the time to (try to) be artistic. In the long run, I would like to find a way to make money at this hobby and perhaps turn it in to a second career. Right now, I am still feeling my way through, trying to find my niche.

Anyway, real nice place you have here and I am looking forward to getting to know you folks.

Thanks Andrew! Yep, that was the Saratoga track at about 5 in the morning last August. The fog kept rolling in and out during the morning workout. It was a great morning to be there! I was actually there on opening day a week or two before (with the video camera for the news) and during the sunrise was damning myself for not bringing my still camera. The day I returned, there wasn't much sun... and I ended up getting better shots!
I live near Albany now, but grew up in Syracuse!
