What to do with studio wall

Recommended Posts

I have a natural light studio with large south-facing windows. One wall is 12' tall and I can't decide what to do with it. I have some new rough cedar wood on it now running vertically but I don't like the resulting photos. The opposite wall is white bead board and I find myself using it almost exclusively. I stretch sheets made of t-shirt material over the wood covered wall when I want colors (the wrinkles pull right out with bungie cords) but I'm looking for a great idea for the wall besides wood. I shoot families and high school seniors and babies. Any suggestions?

One possibility might be to spray paint or roller paint (the choice depending upn the surface roughness) the rough wood surface. The wall can be in or out of focus and its texture might be interesting in your portraits. You could try different colours, if you don't need another white wall.
