Hello Fritz,
Welcome to the site. I hope you get hours of pleasure through interaction. It is the friendliest and best online photogrphy site ever! Do tell us about what aspect of photography interests you in particular. Where in UK are you based?

Hi Starvy,
I'm based in Thames Ditton near London, but will be moving shortly to Reading in Berkshire.
Been photographing on and off for about 20 years, but took it more seriously since the coming of the digital age. Bought a Canon EOS 400D second hand about a year and a half ago and just last week upgraded to a EOS 50D. Very happy with it so far.
Been doing mostly Landscape photography, following tutorials and tips from various sources online and from photography magazines. Wildlife is where my passion lies though and this year I intend to explore it a little more, perhaps (budget allowing) invest in a good macro lens.
I'm not bound to any genre or style though, still finding my feet and enjoying a good day out with the camera whenever I can. I also photographed a few club nights for promoters doing the clubbing circuits in and around london, but to be honest I'm getting too old for the late nights and deafening music. Might photograph a few outdoor festivals this summer, see how it goes.
I'm truly humbled by some of the talented photographers on here and the wealth of knowledge. Picked up some really helpful pointers and hope to contribute with some of my own soon.

You did that exactly right. The only other option would have been to reply to an existing question. But that is only for adding information on that question's topic. As you had a new topic (in this case you yourself were the topic) starting a new question (commonly called a "thread") was the way to go.

Welcome to photo.net!

 • 2 weeks later...

Right, I've now subscribed and put up a couple of pics I've taken with my old camera (Canon EOS 400D) which is a rebel in the U.S. I believe.
Once I posted them up I realised I should have put borders on them and perhaps a few other things. Oh well, . . . next time. =)
