I have a 4x5 cambo wide 650 camera with a schneider 65mm lens that i have purchased a cambo viewfinder with 120 degree viewing to use with this camera... i also have a 6x12 roll film holder that i am using with this camera and i would like to make a mask for the optical viewfinder so i may accurately frame my images... Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this... cambo does not make a mask for 65mm although horseman does (would the horseman mask work on the cambo?) I want to try to get as accurate as possible
thanks for all the help!

00W2dk-230565584.jpg.845d26636ab78d7b64ccc42dbfb1f54c.jpg

According to the manual, http://www.cambo.com/Html/downloads/Linkedfiles/english/download/Item85/w96-01.pdf They did make a mask, and your ground glass is marked for 6x12 format. So set your camera up and frame a scene with the ground glass, and now put some pieces of masking tape over the viewfinder so it frames the same image as shown on the ground glass. Now cut the same sized hole in a piece of fully exposed film or a piece of aluminum or black plastic from a disposable food container and mount the new mask to the viewfinder.

Now this is easier said than done, and it will probably take you a few tries to get it right, have fun doing it. It is probably easier than making a +1.25 diopter correction lens 18.5mm in diameter from one of the lenses out of a pair of reading glasses to fit a Nikon F, which was my camera project yesterday. :)

I've been in a similar fix with trying to create a mask for an old Linhof 5x7 viewer - I needed a mask for 6x17cms. I cut a rectangle of (approx) correct size from the central portion of an old plastic lens cap; having measured the outer diameter of the finder. I lined the inner edge of the lens cap with tape to take up some of the slack and it works fine!
