Developing tanks for Minox film.

I'm new to this Minox thing, and have just ordered some Minopan 25 and would like to process it myself. I found the Tank on Ebay, but US 135 dollars seemed a bit expensive, is this the case or is that a reasonable price?
Maybe someone here has a tank they would like to part with, I'm in Australia though.

135 USD is extreme. You should be able to find one for around 45 or so. Perhaps you should look at a Jobo tank instead. I realize the purist might want to stick with a real Minox tank but in light of finding one on the cheap might be hard considering your location. some body in your neck of the woods should have one. What do you think the shipping rates are for airmail to Australia? Perhaps you should look at European Ebay counter parts for help.

Tony,at lest two Minox tanks are on sale on Eb*y as we speak.Current price is 5 EUro for the first one,and some 25 EUR for the second tank.Run a search on other sites (i.e. Eb*y.de,Eb*y.it ),for Minox tank and you may get one of these cheap enuff for your Minox home jobs.I do not believe the postage to Australia would be prohibitive.
Have a look here:

Apparently they go for close to a king's ransom.
Here's a recently closed Ebay auction:
For those reading this after the link expires, it went for over $172!

At the sub-club see also http://www.subclub.org/creative/reel.htm where it is described how he makes a tank from PVC tubing. Definitely not daylight loading and I'm not sure why he says PVC isn't light proof. Any I've seen is.
Another approach is to tape the minox film back to back on a length of 35mm film and use the 35mm reel of an ordinary tank. It uses more developer of course, than a Minox tamk.
I can't find it but I have seen described a spiral tank like that with standard fittings that is light-tight and can be used without changing solutions in the dark. I'm sure it was Don Qualls who published it but cannot now locate it. Maybe you will have more patience.
I use 16mm and it fits the tanks I have here in the regular reels.

getting a Minox tank is not a difficult task. Search internationally and watch for postage costs and refusal to post outside their own country.
some ebay end of auction prices can be seen by looking at the different tank versions at
http://www.submin.com/8x11/collection/minox/accessories/developing_tanks.htm
Recent data (not shown) indicate even lower prices for them.
With an 8x11 Jobo reel you can share the tank with 35mm and are easier to control higher temperature than the Minox tank. 8x11 Jobo reels are around, but the manufacturer has stopped making them.
