hannah_anketell
I am currently debating on which macro lens to purchase.
I have a few questions..
I currently have the sigma 18-55mm 2.8 lens which is a great lens. I want to build up my equip.
I have been asked to shoot some jewelry but I would also like to experiment with macro shots and would like this lens for portrait.
So I was thinking of either these two macro lenses: 60mm canon or 100mm canon.
Someone said that the 100mm would NOT be good for portrait but good for insects...
And the 60mm is just as sharp but wouldn't be able to get close enough to insects.. But good for portrait..
I'm really stuck now.. And just want more opinions.. or feedback to help make a decision..
Thanks

tony_leinster
Which body do you have? On a crop the 60mm is reasonably good for insects but it is short for FF, it does make a good portrait lens too. The 100 would be fine on either and I did not find it too long for portraits on crop. I would go for the 100 personally, that way you cover all bases even if you go to full frame in future.
