I use the 2008 vintage Bowens Gemini Digitals with Bowens TravelPak+ of the same vintage. The system is very reliable, and makes studio style shooting possible just about anywhere. I've used the system beach shots, mountain shots, desert shots, and outdoor city shots too. I hope soon to purchase a couple of the two Travelpaks with the interchangeable batteries, which allow for more shoots and battery swapping for longer sessions.Of course the one thing that isn't possible with Bowens batteries is modeling lights, but when shooting digital it doesn't make much difference, since metering is easy and nearly endless test shoots are possible.
