OK here is another humble request for input on our new website. Not looking for hits here. I truly would like any constructive criticism on our new site and blog. My partner and I have done some wedding photography and we've finally put our collective work on the web to expand our hobby into a profession. I have used an open source web template along with some flash galleries. Please have a look and let me know your thoughts. Photography is still a hobby for us but wed love to elevate it into something more.
The site is:
The blog:
I really appreciate your time

John, it loads quickly, the first page is very well organized and it's clear in terms of what you offer.
However, I am not really confortable with that red, for me, after a while, it becames a bit tiring.
I am with Charles on the "bio", it's great humor but maybe not for all.
Navigation: Once entered the gallery, I did not find any way back to the home page, I did not find any button to take me back. And that is quitte frustrating because photos are great and wanted to see the other galleries. The only solution I found was to close your site and launch it again.
The site could provide a link to the blog and the blog could provide one to the site.
But these are only mine thoughts ... :)

Charles and Janos
These are great observations and appreciated. As I am woefully unskilled in adobe flash I might have to change the gallery pages to a more conventional HTML page so I can place a "back" link. The blog is linked in the contacts page via an icon but probably not as strong as it should be. Yes, the Bios,.....are a little over the top. I think I will be undergoing a content review this month to adjust these things.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

I'm with Janos. Not only too much "red", but too much "tech". That template would probably work great for an industrial or architectural photographer. My own is mixed product, industrial, and architecture, and I went for a considerably softer look that yours. Weddings should be "soft" and "romantic". Flowing fonts, subtle colors, peaceful background images...

The bios remind me of a wedding photographer I'm acquainted with. At the beginning of his career, he had a site that started with "Chicago's Craziest Event Photographer", including a picture of him shaving his head, and a tendency to also host porn on his wedding photographt site. It took him about 5 years to come up with something more "mainstream" and remotely marketable.

Les and Joseph
Thanks for taking the time to look and assess.
Les no doubt the images have white balance all over the map. They were shot with several different cameras and half of them are actually film based. I think I will try to edit them to relate more consistently with one another. Hey but you go with what you have given a limited portfolio. I'm sure as we shoot more weddings and consistently process them with a refined workflow, they will align. We hope to do more.
Joseph. i'm hoping to avoid the use of porn on my wedding site, and alas shaving my head would result in no significant difference to my middle-aged image. Trust me the bios are meant purely as humor, and not market differentiation. The aesthetic is more consistent with industrial and architectural photography. I might set up a different template for the wedding side to address this. Everyone seems to consistently find the bios edgy so we will definitely look at this as well a more subtle colourations.
Thanks again!

Hi John--I agree with the comments about the red. The design colors overall are a little hard to look at. My frustration is with the galleries--took long to load, and then I don't have an easy to way to look quickly at the photos. Personally I'm a much bigger fan of the gallery with thumbnails, so I can choose the speed with which to browse. Even as a photographer, I tend to go FAST so slideshows inevitably bore me.
On another note, Flash isn't compatible with iphones or the upcoming ipad. Just something to think about...

Great points Kelly. I have since revised the colour scheme and the bios per the discussion above. I am currently working on the galleries and moving away from Flash. It corrects the annoying lag time mentioned above. It allows a Luddite like me a chance to add a "Back to ICPIX" link, and finally it will be more accessible to a larger variety of browsers and computer specs..
Beyond theses adjustments I will be reviewing a light colour theme and different fonts.
Thanks everyone!

Hi Greg
I haven't much experience in interior photography, or exterior for that matter. I shoot predominantly for the firm I work with and am looking to build my skill set further. I did toy with post processing the images with the distort command in Photoshop (they were not shot with a tilt-shift) however, the marketing department liked the dynamism of the forced perspective, Thank you for your comment. I will certainly try revising a few and post for comment, as I am trying to cater to this market.
Thanks for visiting and taking the time to comment.
Cheers
