roxiesplace
Anyone have any clue as to what happened. I used my 30D yesterday in manual mode to shoot some indoor pictures. When I came back later in the day to shoot some new pics, my camera will not function. It's shows power, I replaced the battery and this didn't make a difference. tried a different lens, tried the automatic settings verses the manual settings and the camera will not take a picture. Please help!
py-photography
I would try removing the button battery inside of the main battery compartment.
Take it out and leave it out for a couple of minutes. This will reset the camera to defaults.
mark_poseley
I would buy it dinner, flowers, and possibly a night in a romantic B&B...

Sorry, I have nothing of value to add but smart aleck comments; my 30D treated me very well for almost 5 years.
roxiesplace
I don't have the specs for the 30d so other than the Canon battery pack, I'm not aware of any other battery. I pulled that out for some time, but the issue still remains.

steve_dunn2
There is a second battery which allows the camera to keep track of the date and time when the main battery is removed. The manual will surely mention it. It's a lithium button cell - basically a watch battery - and if it's in the same place as in my old 20D, it's in a little holder along one edge of the main battery compartment.
roxiesplace
Thanks to all who have offered resolutions. I was able to find the button (clock) battery and removed it for 1/2 hour. The camera will still not shoot pictures. Everything is operational except for the shutter button.
