Buyers remorse (Nikon)

as a nikon d300 owner, i found this thread very interesting. conventional wisdom for a while has been that the 4/3rds system's weak points were ISO noise and lens availability, and apart from in-body IS and LV, its strength was telephotos (because of the reach). you've essentially argued the complete opposite, while also savaging the d90's vaunted low-light performance. interestingly, this review (http://www.digitalcamerareview.com/default.asp?newsID=3863&review=olympus+e-30) suggests the e-30 isnt close to a d90 for high-ISO performance.

it sounds to me like you really wanted an e-30 or e-3, which maybe you should have purchased instead, since you arent being very nice to your poor d90. i think in time you will learn to love the d90, but maybe you were just more comfortable with your old setup.

The differences regarding noise probably reflect the difference in sensor sizes and the difference between APS-C and 4/3 is not huge. At pixel level we are probably looking at the same sizes when comparing a 50D 15Mpix and a E-620 @ 12Mpix. So when shooting raw and having comparable ex-camera post processing algorithms on both sides i would assume that quality level should compare quite well and differences between the systems to be marginal at best. My experience with olympus shows that the consistence of the lens quality alone compensates the shotcomings of a 30% smaller sensor.
