daverhaas
Has anyone shot Team photos of a team of 250 + people before? (they're all on the same team so they (the team board) would like a single photo with all members...
My thoughts are to
1. See if I can get a central location with bleachers - I don't think portable bleachers will work - it might but I'd be looking at around $1,000 to rent...

2. See if there are logical breakouts of smaller groups and then switch together a "team collage"

3. Do a massive team photo - with a pop-out of the child....anyone else remember the 1960's topps baseball cards (forget exactly what year....)

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance -

Dave

bill_george1
My first thought would be for the photographer to get above the team and shoot down at them. It would take some effort to figure how high you'd need to be and which lenses to use. Posing the team in a parking lot of maybe a grassy area below a window or balcony might be the easiest. You could also take a series of photos and stitch them into a panorama.
I can recall seeing some photos of very large groups of men that were taken of military units from some modest heights but if I recall they were done with 8x10 cameras and the detail was impressive. --- depth of field really does come into play.
daverhaas
Thanks guys!

Sometimes all you need is a different prespective on things - figuratively and literally.... I like the idea of having the team be down in a grassy area and me (photographer) above them...
I can get up on a roof a lot easier than getting a bleacher system for 300 kids!

Dave
thourihanphoto
Another nice shot like Howard's idea is standing on top of a ladder and use a fisheye with the subjects in a semi circle below, looking up at you and then photoshop out the ladder
nathan_meador
I like the idea of them on a field and shooting from above. But what about having them fill the bleachers at the school, or a local school football field and shooting them from the other side of the field or maybe just mid-field, maybe with a big folding ladder to get you up closer to their level?
