bernard_rudnick
I own a Nikon D200, purchased in June 2007. It has less than 5.000 actuations. The camera turns on, auto focuses, etc. However, no images are captured and memory card indicates no images stored, even when images exist. The menu will not turn on; the LCD remains dark. I have tried several Compact Flash (I use SanDisk) cards - all of which work in my D700. I had this identical problem last year and Nikon fixed it. Is there anything that I can do without sending it back (again)? I have tried a hard reset (Qual and +/- green buttons simultaneously), new battery, new card (Nikon Formatted), etc. I certainly hope that there is a "home remedy". Does anyone have a suggestion?

Matt Laur
Safe to say you've tried different batteries?
ShunCheung
Did Nikon tell you what the problem was last time?

I am afraid that most likely, you need to send it in again. But I would remove the battery and let it sit overnight and then insert a fully charged battery again. I would also shine a flashlight into the CF card compatment to see whether any pin is bent. It can't hurt to give that a try, right?
ian_murren
I recently sent in a d70 with the same problem it had been serviced for 22 months earlier. Nikon repaired it again at no cost. They say that they on their website that warranty on repairs is 12 months, but when i called and asked the service rep. was like "of course we wouldn’t charge you again for the same issue." I was surprised and happy when he said it. When it is a no cost repair it goes through their system faster also, you dont have to wait for payment authorization. They will have all the repair info on file if you do not.
