c_yulater
I was out goofing around with the camera early yesterday morning and shot about 10 photos, which were all normal. Then as part ofa sequence of photos this happened; normal photos, a half-blank image, and all subsequent photos have a pink band on the left side.

It was cold-ish yesterday here, maybe 35-40 F (about 2-4C) and overcast. I'm wondering whether this is a humidity issue, or if something is fried on the camera. It's about 3 years old.

hoffmanvision
Ouch! I've burned through 3 D70 so far. Two were fried by humidity and one from a two foot fall. Great little cameras but not built to last, I'm afraid. In your case, unless it got rained on or something, that kind of weather shouldn't be enough to toast it. Don't know what to tell ya. Good luck man!
george_bonanno
I had a similar problem with my D70. I bought a new flash card and Nikon battery... problem solved.

victor_chelf
I had a similar problem a couple of months ago. I'm in Houston, so it wasn;t an issue with cold. I took the camera to a local repair shop and they said the D70 has a notorious problem with the CF card assembly. They replaced it and it works fine.
vikingman
I have had my D70 for 5 years and used it often in -30C without problems so doubt there is any inherent weakness due to the cold. To begin with I did have similar problems with half blank pictures and camera errors. All was solved with the purchase of a nikon approved CF card. No problems since. It may well be something to do with the CF card assembly as victor says - you could try out different CF cards to see if the problem is solved or changes
