tpurvis
This is an very strange but reproducible issue with out new 7D. I noticed that sometimes my video buffer fills in just a few seconds and recording stops. If I start the recording again, it records with out issue and the buffer preforms as expected. This exact order of operation will cause the issue without fail.
1. Turn on camera
2. Switch to video mode
3. press record
If if take a still or view images on the card between steps 1 and 2, no problem.
I am using a 8 gig UDMA Delkin card. Any ideas? Can you reproduce the same issue? Should I call Canon? Your help is much appreciated.

Tom Purvis
bobatkins
I'd call Canon. Perhaps it's a known issue to them (though I haven't heard of it).
PuppyDigs
I've used the video mode straight away many times on my 7D without any such issue, but with 8GB SanDisk Ultra (30MB/s) instead. Perhaps you have a defective Delkin card? Or maybe your 7D needs service? The 7D has been out for 3 months so bleeding edge photogeeks would have screamed bloody murder long ago if such a glitch existed.
Sometimes the light’s all shining on me. angel_bocanegra
Same happens to me but while I am taking video(sandisk extreme IV 30mb/sec) 24P, 1080P, slowest shutter speed, widest aperture, and high ISO. Buffers fill up rapidly after I take a snapshot while taking video. But also has happened with previous condition just shooting video for less than 4min. I think its due to the slowest shutter speed, aperture and high ISO combination takes up much more memory than shooting in bright sunny conditions.

I will call canon about this one as well.
joe_nash1
What you are experiencing is how quickly your 7D has become obsolete. I will gladly take it off your hands for 100 bucks. No seriously, Call Canon right away, like the fellow posters have said. The issue is probably know to Canon already.
