john_boyle3
Paul, the 1982 edition of the "Leica R-Lenses" brochure lists only one version of the 19mm Elmarit-R f/2.8. The code no. is 11225 and it is listed for the SL, SL2 and R cameras. Hope this helps.

Robin Smith
Paul

It occurs to me that although the 3-cam version should work the metering, the 2nd ver lens itself I think does not actually fit the SL, although it does fit the SL2.
Robin Smith
gary e
I recall that the 19mm Elmarit-R 2nd version can only be used on the SL2 onwards and not on the SL. Something about the mount being different to prevent being used on the SL due to mirror clearance. Doug might be able to shed more light on this.
paul_neuthaler
Robin, Gary, you're correct. -- Doug confirmed that the 2nd version fits only the SL2 and later R's. Thanks.
eric_meyer
On a related note: I'm curious why I never see the first, Mandler-designed 19mm Elmarit-R on the used market. Were there just very few made/sold? I've heard that it was fairly good, and it ought to be much more affordable than the later model.
MTC Photography
I bought a Mandler 19mm Elmarit R on ebay a few years ago. It shows up on ebay from time to time, check the "completed" list
