My first roll of Kodachrome 25 ... Wow!

Recommended Posts

Same day, same time, same camera, same lens, same scanner: At the lower Austrian village of Stuetzenhofen, wine cellars line up along the street, and I was about to finish a roll of Provia 100F and decided to continue with Kodachrome 25 (frozen, expired 06/2002), for direct comparison. Yesterday, I got back the K25 after more than 3 1/2 weeks, and so I put two film strips on a transparency scanner (Epson GT-9600 run with VueScan, calibrated visually). In direct comparison, K25 appears cool and neutral, Provia 100F warm and vivid. I get similar results with an ICC-profiled film scanner.
00UtZu-185783684.jpg.dea13ca584155356440cf9136486bc0a.jpg

K25 was said to be even better than K64, however its much harder to get hold of. As you say, it can be hard to get a scan that gives the slides original colour's justice.
Patrick, do you still have some K25 available by any chance? I'm trying to get hold of some, to compare with my 1st batch of K64 which will be arriving from Dwayne's any day now...very exciting!!!
