Hi Guys,
I just got the Tammy 200-500mm, unfortunately without any manual. My question is how do I remove the Detachable Filter Effect Control ? I read somewhere that it's supposed to be screwed on but unsure how to remove. I have turned it anti-clockwise and it moved some turns but it doesn't move anymore after that - should I use a bit more force?
Thanks.

Hi Vincent. If you didn't figured out by now, how to remove the so called "filter effect control ring" ( basically a clever attachment for the polarizer filter, so you can turn the hood together with the polarizer to get the desired polarizing effect.) you has to turn the inner part of the ring anti clockwise, of the front, from the filter tread. For advise, having the same Tamron 200-500mm lens ( luckily a perfect copy, extreme sharp and color contrast super. Auto focus is right on. See my bird images! ) always use the long hood! Even in cloudy overcast days. It is improving the contrast in a very visible way. I personally don't using this ring and don't using polarizer filter on the lens. It is a slow lens and the polarizer cutting down the sped of the lens even slower. The lens has a very good coating and don't really need a polarizer.

Yes Joel. I know. Thank you. I meant, people using polarizers to increase contrast and color too. A good coating also a good help to get the lens more contrast, then a bad or pour coating. I getting very nice color and contrast from this Tamron lens even when I framing the subject getting some sky in it, and have a nice blue. If you need more darker blue, you can always ad more with PS. . . . "very good coating and don't really need a polarizer." I meant; need only on those special occasion, reflection on leaves, water, etc.

Thanks a lot Brian & Bela. I was reluctant in case I break something. A little brute force did the job!
And I don't intend to use a polariser with this. Just making some attempts into birding. my 70-200 is too short. Thanks once again.
