reccomendations for a new camera setup

<p>so i am a racing photographer and am saving up to add some new equipment, i shoot with nikon. i am hoping to save between 3000 and 4000 dollars, what kind of new equipment would you reccomend?<br>

i want to buy a new camera body<br>

a new flash<br>

and a couple of nice lens, most racing occurs between 6pm and 10pm.</p>

<p>We need to know what you have now. A new 300 f2.8 or 400 f2.8 is going to take all that money. A Pro body will require more than that range of $$$. What kind of racing - motorcycles, cars, dirt track ???</p>

<p>Night time is tough, you need fast lens and they are more money. Start with a used D700 for the great ISO, find a used 80-200 f2.8, SB900 and 50 or 85 mm 1.8. This should get you started.</p>

<p>The D700 is great but if you take a lot of shots and shoot in RAW, get a D3 as it takes 2 memory cards. I shoot a lot of sports and use 2 - 16GB cards. For flash, I agree with Kelvin on the SB 900. Try and find a shop that will rent this equipment so you can "try before you buy", it will be much easier to decide what to buy in the end.
