Using photography to make a difference

<p>I was looking for some ideas on how I could use photography to make a statement and maybe a difference about the downfall of our country since the Obama administration took over. I know not everyone will agree with my description of a "downfall," but to me the democratic party, and especially Obama, are contributing to the destruction of wealth and strength of our great nation with a government takeover of the health care system currently being rammed through, Cap and Trade which will greatly harm our economy and destroy more jobs than it creates, the undertone of socialism, creation of a nanny goverment, loss of freedom, redistribution of wealth, the arrogance of not listening to the people and thinking we're to stupid to know what's best for us, and on and on and on. I think you get my point.</p>

<p>The question is how can these realities be portayed through the powerful medium of photography? Thanks.</p>

<p>Hmmm... this is the issue with art... artists have somekind of internal power that makes them to express his/her feeling by any medium of his/her choice/knowledge. If you don`t know how to do it, I`m afraid nobody can tell you the way. But I think you already are on the right way.</p>

<p>Probably some could tell how to do make post cards, documentary images, etc. but I`m afraid it could not tell your sentiments.</p>

<p>I think the philosophy in "Technique, Theory and Philosophy" in the Nikon forums refers to different philosophies and ideas regarding use of Nikon gear, not politics. Your soapboxing doesn't belong here and clearly has nothing to do with Nikon stuff.</p>

Maybe songwriting is a more feasible medium to use since this subject is pretty abstract and hard to pin down with say concrete photographic images. Anyway. . . .</p>

<p>Town Hall meetings will tell a great story of the concern happening in the country right now, there should be some around your area. Attend 'Tea Party' demonstrations, you will also probably have these groups in your area that you could attend. What about construction projects that are not being worked on that have been abandoned.....I know there are plenty in my area - Jacksonville, FL. While not all of these may have been 'caused' by the Obama administration, I believe the administration has not done anything yet to correct them.</p>

<p>There's enough of this on the OT board already. Posting something like this on the Nikon board and then waiting to see if a moderator kills or moves it is poor form, don't you think? A more appropriate way to do this would been to ask in one of the general or techniques boards for tips on photographing political material or events, without putting it on one side of the argument or making any politically motivated speeches.</p>

<p>Or you could have asked, "How can I document the fear and misery that billionaires in the health insurance industry are feeling, as they face the prospect of becoming mere nine-hundred-million-aires?" That would be a powerful, difficult yet ironic topic.</p>
