Hin's Pentax K-x color selection

Another option would be to simply do a screen capture (also known as taking a screen shot). On Windows PCs this is easy: hit the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard, open up an image editor (Photoshop, Paint, etc), create a new image, select Paste from the edit menu, crop out any of the unnecessary stuff, and then save as a JPEG.

The process used to be similarly easy on Macs in the old days (OS 9 and earlier), but now with OS X you have to use an app called Grab which makes it a bit more complicated. I'll leave the instructions to someone else. ;-)

Subho's version is one I also liked. And the good thing is, that's one of the 4 colours they'll sell in the US. Will you buy one, Subho? Available for preorder on B&H. Although it's reflective in real life. Another two pics here and here.

The blue ones from Subho has become my favorite to go with black limited. Javier also shared great interest on the blue one.

Now, I can't decide on white versus the blue. Oh my Gosh, maybe Rice High will blog about how bad Pentax does on the coloring schemes. And he will likely launch a campaign in his blog to solicit voting from how odd Pentax throw this color scheme at consumers. He may file lawsuit on color blindness from the K-x launch.

But for me, how many K-x will I get tempted to buy. I am pretty darn sure that it is over one. A request to Pentax Corp., can we make it BUTTONIZED feature so that a menu is popped up on demand to choose color for body and grip. And color liquid metalic body will activate in 0.02 seconds and user defined temperature and scene detected schemes can set preferred modes for sliver limited, black limited, m42 oddies, Zeiss glass suitable, camouflage green, RiceHigh trashy green, Canon white L look alike, Nikonian DarkForce, White Trooper Call, Sub-zero Color White, Red-hot Mars landing among others. That is the next Pentax K-xC to die for.

Thanks,
Hin

Thanks Javier, if you look at PentaxForums RH profile , I actually extend my friendship to him. He has since left the PF just like usual in all other forums. I really like him on his in-depth analysis and his initial enthusiasm on Pentax k-7. I consider him as a great resources and friend who are unique. But he chose again to go on his WORST human side in accusing Pentax for every single negative opinions that he and others can think, dream, buzz, talk about.

But his continued bias and echo of Pentax issues are beyond what anyone can imagine that does more harm than good to the Pentax community. Unfortunately, people including myself love bashing and rumors. I am here to SAY NO to Rumors and SAY NO to RH for his completely biased and negative views which blind sighted the entire Pentax community by repeating every single thread of discussion in the internet that has an issue related to Pentax. He is the echo of every negative thoughts and potential negative opinions and as a result, issues and known problems are magnified 10+ if not more. Negative thoughts spread like cancer with no cure. We can only stop it by SAYING NO to rumors and SAYING NO to RH.

Warmest,
Hin

Funny posts Hin. RH is like some sort of ghost that never seems to quite dei no matter how many forums he gets banned from.

Mis, if you are getting a Spanish one, I'll have to respond with a Canuckistani version. Somehow the White body and red grip comes out looking Pink so I'll do it this way.

00UWSG-173731584.JPG.a9ed36f47d36d79e3f60b081a6f0e8eb.JPG

I've never understood why the need for a 'colored' camera. What's wrong with the basic black or silver?
Once you get all this colored stuff - you become much more obvious that you're shooting a camera when it's purple or pink... when people notice you - then it's much harder to pull out your camera to take pictures of strangers (street photography).
Do wildlife photographers need to add color ? Seems like a bad thing if you're trying to blend into the 'background'...
It seems more the accepted route for a P&S to me, rather than for an SLR. Of course, maybe it's just my opinion... but, a slew of multicolored cameras doesn't seem to be the best method for trying to create the image of creating a 'professional' product.

Your honest view point is well noted. Pentax maybe going after the masses in the entry level market trying to differentiate itself from others by being smaller, cheaper, cost effective especially with SR, and now the color schemes that no one is denied to have a black camera but a choice of their own choosing. Does it make Pentax less of a company. I AM going to disagree with you BIG time. But your viewpoint has a way of business image thinking that I have not thought about. I saw the positive of thinking out of the box and bold and refreshing move from traditional black camera.

I give you my 2 cents on the thought. I have K20D, which in my view, is a darn good camera for the sub $1000 price range. And I ever upgrade to K-7, I am more than likely sell my K-20D to help with replacement cost. And you know what, if I ever want to have 2 Pentax cameras, I would want 2 in different characters and functionality such as one for serious work and one for traveling, color appeal with wife and kids' support. Why would I want two cameras of the same model, same color and same functionality. God forbid, it is too boring to satisfy my needs and desires with money spent. Case in point is when I have my K-7, I want a K-x that speak with my desire on color as a stylist representation for an artist.

And for people with p&s experience who never venture into dSLR, I will bet you on my retirement savings that the K-x speak volume more so than the traditional black selection.

I truly see your argument and I hope you thought about where I am coming from -- I want excitement over traditional color scheme. I want uniqueness for stylist representation for one's status quote as an unique individual and artist.

Hey I can't claim ownership of this slogan but I like the colour idea. Personally I'd get a white one for street use or a silver. Add a new white kit lens and you have a very subtle camera. The camo green for the wildlife shooter makes some sense.

But to hit the young first time user that would want something different like their cell phones, makes perfect sense. Then there's women. A huge untapped market. Give them a full featured camera they can customize and you have something very different than the black blobs from everyone else.

Bottom line is, Pentax introduced something that has everyone looking and talking. A sub $700 camera. great features that are class leading and it's making a splash with the cool colours. It's a winner.

The slogan (in an advert with a dozen cameras displayed like the versions above):

Colour Me Pentax!

Even though I may not want anything but a black camera (the blacker the better) I applaud Pentax for thinking outside the box and going for an entirely different market. I do not understand why anyone would knock them for this when you can still get the K-x in black if you wish.

Matt hit on something - if we shot HD video on DSLRs (and if Pentax keeps it up, we just MIGHT be tempted into it in the future. Keep up the great features like an audio in, guys!!!!)....

We'd have 3. We shoot w/ 3 98% of the time.
Have the three be 3 diff colors, so we'd just label the tapes w/ the camera color.
Now, Matt was partial to the purple body & yellow grip. I liked how obnoxious it was, but I'd have to go w/ a diff scheme for myself, and I can't pick yet.
Then he said, No... They'd have to be RGB. (You know... Red, Green, Blue...) How true is that for a triad of video cameras? That blue up there is BEAUTIFUL (and still subtle, Rose ;-)
Now he's telling me - if they would work for our video purposes (still not yet, though)... We'd seriously be buying 1 black, 1 red, 1 blue. Me? I'm rolling my eyes
But - the untapped market of chicks & teens is huge for being able to have wild cameras. I can see the sense in releasing this in Japan...
