Hin's Pentax K-x color selection

<p>This is my color selection for Pentax K-x. I like to see what you pick out on color. This color is only available in Japan that one can pick on both body and grip color in <a href="http://www.camera-pentax.jp/k-x/#/simulator/120101">Pentax k-x color simulator</a></p>

<p>That looks sharp and with a red strap....Yep..</p>

<p>That's a pretty cool combination Hin. This is a cool idea and I really think they need to do this outside Japan. I can see this being a lot like the iPods and really catching on.</p>

<p>But this might look OK with some silver Limiteds</p><div></div>

<p>Then the wildlife Photog would want this and ad a Tamron 300mm f2.8 of the same colour. Some camo clothing and go hide in the bushes.</p><div></div>

<p>Hey how did you paste a photo of your creation? I'm lost with all the Japanese on the site and when I right click on the pic it doesn't let me copy the picture (using firefox on pc). Anyways I did an orange body with blue grip!</p>

<p>I would want a black one with a red grip, but the site wouldn't let me choose that combination... I guess it's not available. :-( Black with a fuchsia grip is available, but I want red, darn it!</p>

<p>Black with the brown grip is kinda nice in a sexy, understated way.</p>

<p>Peter, your green & brown version was among my choices too. I think a lot of the colors look good with the grey grip as well. I could easily find several combinations I would love. My wife for some strange reason was much less enthusiastic--I think she saw all the horrid possible combinations that distract from the potential of coolness. I suspect she would have liked it better if there were more metallic choices.</p>

<p>I'm disappointed that they're not offering this in USA. I was thinking that maybe Pentax was afraid it would stress the customer service/returns channel but that seems short-sighted.</p>

<p>I actually like Peter's silver limited version. Let see them in context with some imagination</p>

<p>I do think they need to offer this in the West. There's a huge untapped market in SLR photography and that's women. I showed this to my wife and she loved the idea of a custom camera of her own choice. Our son who's 12 is into everything that is red and would love the red version (way too bright and loud for me). But she would clearly like the option to choose her own camera colour.</p>

<p>I bet some Japanese Ebay vendors are salivating at the chance to sell a camera that we can't get and have already copied the colour simulator for thier Ebay listings. They'll have an exclusive (at the usual jacked up Japanese Ebay listing prices) to offer the world and that's a shame.</p>

<p>The logistical difficult in offering this in Europe or N.America would be overwhelming. If the delivery time is 2 weeks in Japan, close to the factory, how long would it be in Canada, say? Four weeks? Six? And with no local dealers to sell the options and guide people through the sales process it might not work so well.</p>

<p>Still, Pentax could set up a website dedicated to such sales and offer the customisation strictly on the net. Would people want this if there was a premium for order fulfillment and delivery?</p>

<p>I don't know how to get the pic on here, but I'd go with the orange body and blue grip, in honor of my wife, who is from the Netherlands.</p>

<p>I can tell you how I did this........open the simulator link that Hin posted. Thanks Hin. Once you finish your selection, click on the green square box, it takes you to a new page and you will see a green square box again with a printer pic. Click on that green box again and it will make a PDF file.</p>

<p>I selected just the camera picture from the PDF and copy pasted into a new jpeg image with photoshop. Thats it. My method might not be the best one. I do not understand the language. So I only relied on symbols and the good thing is it worked. </p>
