paul_kerfoot Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009
Good afternoon all
I am trying to determine if a Morris Midi Slave Di optical slave flash can be successfully triggered by the on-board flash of a Panasonic G1. I believe the G1 uses a pre-flash. The Midi Slave Di is known to be compatible with Canon, Nikon and Pentax systems. It is also known to not be compatible with Sony and Olympus systems.
Some information about the Midi Slave Di: It has an optical flash detector built in and the flash output is guide number 42@ISO 100. It has two selectable flash modes: N, which fires on the first camera pulse and P which ignores the pre-flash and fires on the second camera pulse. It can be set to full or half power, runs off of 3v (two AA cells) and is approximately 1.2 x 2.4 x 2.5". Cost is $68 (B&H price). It also has a 1/4 x 20 threaded insert for mounting on a tripod etc.
I have sent this same question to Morris a couple of days ago but so far, no joy. I was hoping to purchase a pair for fill flash purposes when using the G1's onboard flash. They take up very little room in the bag.
Thanks to all.
Paul
Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Charles_Webster Posted September 16, 2009 Share Posted September 16, 2009
I'd buy one and try it. If it doesn't work, you can send the slave back.

I like the Morris slaves, they're quite convenient and simple.

<Chas>

Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
davidlong Posted September 17, 2009 Share Posted September 17, 2009 If it doesn't work with Olympus cameras, odds are against it working with the G1. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
