Thank you Joseph, Ian, Ken, Janne, Sjoerd for the encouraging words on my bug pics. I'm trying to photograph other things, but I'm having difficulty ignoring the little critters. I've had an unusually stressful week, and looking through my lens at their world, takes me far away from mine...kind of like the old "Calgon" commercials, but with bugs. ;-) All the pictures here do that too. Thank you for sharing a piece of your world. I'm already looking forward to what I'll see this coming Wednesday.

As always, really great shots. These are the ones that particularly caught my attention:
@René, the Austria shot is seductive. Kind of a snapshot, but more.
@Lil, the IR in the market is other-worldly. Demands a second look and makes you think.
@Anish, again the color is magnificent. And the action. Color + Attractive People + Action.
@Robert, a gorgeous little girl.
@Eric, small boy fearless... Great shot.
@Jose and others, shutter-speed = F.L. works reasonably for 35mm, I double it for APS DSLR.
@Jeannean, the armored bug... Nicely posing, color, interesting creature, sharp. Nice. I like the way the soft background wraps the creature.
@Lex, a great hands portrait... I see character and dignity.
@Ken, Times Square with action, so much going on.
@Louis, Dave with dogs, an excellent portrait, they are so connected to each other.
@PW Franks, just a terrific night/water scene.
@Wayne, I really like the fawn, prancing.
@Leo, a very nice water-drop image.
@Richard A, the portrait of Brimley is terrific.
@Sanford, the B&W motorcycle is positively electric... and fab Chrome!
@Rick D, portrait with two live fish... Memorable and nice.
@William, the heron, with so much going on.
@Benjamin, the Echinacea plant, a) makes me dizzy, b) nice different take on a flower pic., c) terrific color.
@Tim, the leopard in soft light
@Dieter, the blue scene, Haystack Rock with bird
@Roberta, the three monkeys, looking sleepy
@Rodger, the bat picture, I like the X-Ray feel
@Lawrence, bee on yellow flower, sharp bee, softer flower. Nice composition.
@Dan, the brotherly love kids
@James, blue chairs and white walls. I can see the care you invested in the shot. It's lively.
@Joseph, winter horses in VT. Winter light is so nice.
@Phil, Toronto air show, uncovering the shot here in a vertical-scroll is a very interesting twist.
@Cees, the B&W sky-scape is great.
@Shekar, dog portrait, perfect tonality, great subject, great composition.
@Mircea, I like the sunset with just a simple cloud.
@Jose, I like the grey cat image. The eyes, cat's attention on you.
@Tony, those are remarkable colors on the Wisconsin Farm.
@Heather, cherry tomatoes
@Keerthi, the green bug, that's an interesting creature, well-shot.
@Dave W, the Billette Stadium seats, very interesting.
@Luis, red car in motion.
@Thangavelu, a very nice shot of Ladakh.
@Jay, the squirrel is terrific.
@Gary, soft water, rocks, and the lighthouse
@Jonas, neighborhood with very vivid color.
@Aaron, the rider with clouds, a very exciting shot.
@Yuriy, daughter with SB-800 is wonderful, an "old-master" look and then you figure out what she's holding in her hands. Nice.
@Ty, yummy bokeh is really neat. A great idea, and well-done.
@Jam, the Cedar Waxwing
@Raaj, orchid with off-camera flash

Well I'm hoping to have time to do my weekly comment before Shun closes the thread..... Busy week & tomorrow's my husband's birthday - - so I had things to take care of.
so without further ado.....
To start with - Huge Thank You to those who noted my contribution;

Jose - glad you enjoyed it. Thank you for your kind comment.
Richard - you are just too kind. I'm thrilled you like it.
Emilio - thank you, thrilled you like it.
Steve - I am very happy you enjoyed the IR. I think you'd be very happy with your D70 converted to IR. I'm having too much fun with mine.
Wouter - you are so very kind. I do appreciate it. My sister loves them & I'm having too much fun shooting them. There's one this I wish was different on that shot, but the only way I can fix that is to go back & try to redo it...... ;-) You try to figure it out. :-)
Gary - thank you, I've been experimenting with post processing & this is a new technique I've been playing with.
Jill - thank you for your kind words. I'm happy you like it.
Matt - thank you so very much. Those are wonderful words & inspire me to push on.
Joseph Leotta - thank you so very much, I enjoy it a lot.
Paul - thank you so very much. I'm glad you enjoy it.
Ian - yes it did get a very special result. I did not "see" that when I took it, but was very pleased when I saw the result. I'm a bit of a perfectionist I guess......
Richard - Thank you very interesting comment & I'm glad it made you think.
Now, this week is as inspiring as always. Such a fun & wonderful thing Jose did when he decided to start this. But it also makes me think how much stress it must at times put on Jose to get the thread started for us each week. So as always - Thank you Jose for getting us together like this each week. Wonderful thing you've done for the forum.

Now, on to my task....

Jose - it's so amusing that you've photographed this. Years ago I was organizing a birthday party for our daughter & I was buying Pepsi for the party. Only thing was, the only crates I could locate were the Coke ones. So - I've done this myself. :-) That was my first thought when I saw your fun shot. Anyhow, fun shot with great use of dof. As a Pepsi drinker - Got to Love it. ;-)
Per-Christian - huge congratulations to your daughter. Well done by her. Love the patterns created due to the backlit situation.
Anish - another nice shot from the carnival - super intense green. She sure looks like she's enjoying it.
Bogdan - neat shot.
Thank you everyone, for sharing these fantastic images with us. A small weekly peek of what is happening througout the world.

A special thank you to Wouter, Matt, Monika, Joseph, Jeannean, Ian, Sjoerd and Lil for your nice comments. I'll carry them in my heart. Another thank you to Lil, and all you other guys who compete with her task of commenting all other photos. It's so impressive, and I am so grateful that someone is taking their time to do so. I also want to try this some day, but alas, the time is going so fast, and suddenly, Shun is closing the thread. Maybe next week...... ;)

I would not even dream of nominating the "best pic" this week, as they all are so great in their different ways. However, it seems that I this week am in a kind of "portrait mode" as the portraits by Eric, Kent, Rick, and Ty, as well as Jim and Jose's animal portraits and the blue landscape submitted by Dieter are those that stand out a little bit more than the rest for me this week.

See you tomorrow, guys!

I'm leaving work in a few minutes and have a camera with me. (the D200). I better go find something. The pressure is too much. Why don't I have a macro lens? Not many landscapes in the Bronx. This used to be fun. there are too many great photos on the wednesday thread. Mine's gonna stink. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.

Maybe a Bear will eat me ( see off topic) , If only I won the lottery ( see Casual con)
