eamon_scott
Hi, I've recently purchased a Nikkor 105mm F2.5 lens which I believe is AI-ED (No 211097) and I'm looking to find if there is an adapter that will allow me mount the lens on a D2X. Any thoughts or information most welcome.

best wishes,

Eamon Scott (Dublin, Ireland)

Double posted to http://www.photo.net/nikon-camera-forum/00UQIR?unified_p=
kelly_flanigan1
Your lens is already a Nikon F mount lens for an Nikon slr camera. If it is a Rangefinder version then it is probably labeled a 10.5cm F2.5; like mine below that has a Leica Thread Mount; the same lens was also made with a Nikon Rangefinder mount too.
Your serial number of 211097 ; if a Nikon F lens mounts to a lens made from 1959 to 1971; thus maybe thats your question; will it fit a modern Nikon?

jose_angel
There is no 105/2.5 Ai-ED. No ED version for the 105/2.5 lens, I guess you wanted to mean P or PC.
If it is Ai it means that is Nikon F mount and can be fitted directly to a D2X.
kelly_flanigan1
Eamon; refrain from posting the same exact question in another thread; it just dilutes the threads; wastes folks time.
Just post of the lens you have. Your description has a zoo of conflicts. There is no rangefinder lens wtih AI or ED; nor does the 105mm F2.5 lens have ED glass either. Its like saying your house is in Ireland, Japan and Germany.
All the Rangefinder versions I have seen are marked 10.5cm F2.5; maybe some are marked 105mm.
jose_angel
There are rangefinder former versions of this lens (LTM and Contax/Nikon) which are uncompatable with the current Nikon F mount, due to their shortest flange focal lenght.

rolleiflex users
Your lens is a F mount and must be ai´d to fit in your D2x. Seerch in the net and you will find a guy that make this kind of lens modifications.
Here an example of an AI-S original lens so you can compare with yours:

Rgds
JDMvW
By the way, this lens (in all its forms) is arguably one of the best Nikkor lenses ever. I presume that the current 105mm f/2D at least owes homage to the older design (link )* It's a wonderful, classic portrait lens, in any case.

________
*where, for some reason, it is described as a

"Standard zoom NIKKOR lens with constant f/2.8 aperture "

StuartMoxham
Its an old Nikon F lens 105 2.5 the early sonnar version that is some what similar to the 105 rangefinder lens opticaly but it is not a rangefinder lens it is and F lens and would fit a old Nikon F or F2 and the prongs enable the lens to couple with the meter heads it will not fit the D2x as it has not been Ai converted and will damage the Ai coupling ring if you try to mount it by force. I have the same lens that has been converted and it is a very nice lens that I enjoy using.
