sebastianmoran
A few more that got my attention:

@Aaron, airshow is a very interesting composition.
@Jam, a great hummingbird. You must be very happy with your feeder.
@Nik, send the UFO to the newspapers. To CNN. The truth is out there...
@Kris, your wedding image of hands shows real character.
@Eddy, I like the backlit portrait of Jill.
@Wenshu, nice flowers. From time to time we all discover something unrealized in our images, like the bee in yours.
@Lil, your candid works for me.

Wouter Willemse
OK, it's thursday now, but still... What a fine collection this week! Honestly so many great pictures!
Just a few that stand out for me:

@ Pedro Cardoso and Janne Kaakinen - I love your pictures. Just great, so simple and effective, and the DoF makes it kind of mysterious too. Great view to see such a picture.
@ Paul Nance - apart from the normal pride one feels as a relative (which is logical), it a great baby picture, really capturing the way young babies are.
@ Wayne Wrights - breathtaking scenery. Great light, and a great "layered" view (good choice of focal lenght for sure!).
@ Benjamin Schaefer - Nice mysterious look, a picture that does not immediately give away what the subject is, very nice.
@ keerthi s r - I found your picture to be very humorous, a funny view on the former "private" lifes.
@ Tim Evans - hmmm, now I'm craving some fruit....Great colours.
@ Uzay Kişi - totally great shot, can't say why I like it, but I sure do.
@ Steve Lyon - Wow.

Lil, I found it funny to hear your "problem" with candids of people; I'm running into the exact same problem. I really wanted to give it a try, but I always get kind of nervous when I'm framing, and if they even slightly notice me, I'm off to a next picture.... but I will keep trying, cause I like the results too much to not overcome my own shyness (or whatever it is) in this respect.
And neither should you, since the picture of the girl is really nice and just breathes "summer holiday".

Cees M, Richard K, thanks for the kind words!
liljuddakalilknyttphotogra
Thank you Per-Christian, Benjamin, Ray & Richard for noting my presence though late. I miss you all & so wish I had the time to comment as I normally do.... but alas, this week & probably for the next few weeks my presence will be extremely limited. But hopefully I'll get a chance to take some photos during our time together.
Miss you all & will try to check in when I can & have a chance to.
Special thanks to Richard for being encouraging about my candid. The little girl walking in her father's flip flops while carrying her own was just so sweet..... Such a cute story - my sister picked the shot for this week.
Wouter thank you for your very kind words. I think I'm OK to do it when I get a true candid like this. But when on the street & trying for a street scene candid...... It makes my skin crawl....... But thank you for the encouragement.
jeannean_.
Jose: Like I said earlier, great composition and lines...and once again...thank you for this thread!
Per-Christian: Beautiful subject and photo.
Mike C: Very "old" mood and beautiful sky.
Alejandro: I took a picture of blooming cactus flowers this past week and totally overlooked the thorns. Very interesting angle. Spikey indeed!
Mike O'Day: Lovely colors and scene.
Ton: As always, your photos capture interesting people. I keep seeing Morgan Freeman when I look at this (who I love).
Janne: Very nice shot (one of my favorite subjects is shoes :) and lighting.
Nina: Nice capture of spray and the rocks remind me of fingers.
Bogdan: Love this candid shot and the red truck in the background.
Darko: Wonderful light and focus on the drawing.
Matthew B: Talk about "roots showing"! I'm sorry there are so few left.
Dieter: I absolutely love this. The light on his face, the weathered skin, the scruffiness...yet the eyes grab me. Great job!
Pedro: Shows you can photograph just about anything and find an interesting way to do it.
Ian: Your shot makes me want to jump right in and play in the sprinkler among those pretty flowers!
Ertugrul: I love the bright VIVID colors!
Jens: Nice job. I may have to try some landscapes one of these days.
Monika: Very nice. I sat and looked hard until I figured out how she was staying on that pole.
Oskar: What a cool shot and unexpected surprise!
Wouter: Welcome to the thread! Glad you decided to post. Very nice surroundings to become acquainted with. :)
Joseph: Hope your eyesight continues to improve. This shot is pure FUN!
Erik Christensen: I really like the angle you took this at.
Hasse: I'd like to reach in and sample their brews!
Sjoerd: Thank you for your big happy bird! :D
Cees: Well done. I love natural light.
Chris N: Sorry about your camera, but it captured some great shadow/light before it died.
Wayne: That is beautiful.
Ray: Very vibrant colors and nice capture. I'm not having much luck around here with pretty butterflies.
Paul B: Wow, the blues really pop in this photo!
Kent: I hear you. Interesting "doorway" in the wall and different textures/colors.
Ken: Hope the jet lag is better. Nice photo of what we see everyday, but many times don't SEE.
Paul: Congratulations Grandpa...she's a beauty and such a peaceful shot.
Matt: I've photographed the three that seem permanently attached to my neighbor's fence. They've been there for weeks and show no signs of going anywhere. I wish I could shed my skin and come out brand new!
Aguinaldo: Very nice shot and SHARP!
Rafael: Wish I was sitting there. The lighting is so inviting.
Benjamin: Lovely light! We have a lot of those leaf eaters around here too. My neighbor's tree looks like someone with scrapbooking scissors went on a manic spree.
Robert: Annabelle is a beauty. Love the light across her hair.
Hamish: Well done!
Scot P: Thanks for sharing. You're right...some of the "old guys" can make anyone feel young just by watching them. (very sharp shot too!)
Elliot: Ahhh.... I love this!
Jeff Keplinger: Nice capture of the moon and flag (and all those mesquite beans too)!
Richard Karash: Very interesting. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything like this before. Thank you.
Murali: Beautiful Heron!
Chris C: LOL@ "swallowed an iPhone". Very sharp and a nice composition (as always).
Justin W: WOW...those eyes! Beautiful light.
Tom B: What an expansive view!
Susan: What a pretty little bird.
Sasa: What pretty colors...almost like a painting.
Tony: I like what you did. I'll have to keep this in mind for similar situations. Thanks for the tip!
Luis M: Wow, what detail. What is that a photo of? I'm guessing something smaller than what I imagined when I first looked at it.
Curt: Very cool capture of the fog in the valleys.
Ralph: Very nice lighting and pretty cat. (that 35mm 1.8 is one of my favorite indoor lenses...not that I have many ;-)
Joe Elrod: Summer goes so fast...such a carefree photo.
John DeMarco: Nice tones on that old truck.
Nimesh: I love this. Cute taxi and transported me all the way to Mumbai. :)
Keerthi: Very interesting picture...the loo is a nice focal point!
Lawrence: I still can't see your contribution. :(
Ofey: Simple is nice.
Dan: Resize so your image shows up without having to click on it. They look like they're having a nice time.
Kevin: Very nice sharp capture.
Doug S: I like this a lot. The mood for me is excellent.
Phil: What a beautiful dog...and for once, snow looks really inviting. :)
Alex: Very nice detail of the earrings against the busy wallpaper.
Tim: Nothing better than fresh fruit to photograph and then EAT!
Keith: No idea about the bird. I live in a birders paradise and know sparrows, grackles, doves...nothing but basics. That may change soon.
Christoper: Lazy days of summer indeed!
Jesse: Hope you're feeling better. Very nice geometric shapes.
Paul G: Welcome! It looks lovely, but so hard to see. Next week post a larger photo please. :)
Sanford: Some car there!
Kim: I wish we lived closer too. I love your flower pics, but know about wanting to branch out. Next week you'll most likely see bugs from me. ;-)
Phil E: Nice pic and slacklining IS fun.
Arun: Awww...such a cute capture.
Steve L: Very cool pic.
Paula: What a great shot! Makes me laugh and wonder what these creatures think of us sometimes.
Eil: What a pretty zebra. I like his markings.
William P: I know what you mean...so many bugs out lately. Nice shot.
Bernard: I'd say that was "clowning around". ;-)
Wayne: Great color. For some reason, it sort of reminds me of a heart.
Ray Y: I can't see your Behive pic.
Freddy: Nice lighting picture.
Walter: The cigar in the hand is very cool.
Adam: Those are always fun to watch.
Matt: That's really pretty. Was the white netting or ?
Eric Angelo: Yay! and wow to the red in this photo. Neat backdrop too.
Eric Arnold: What a nice picture. Now I want a bubble gun!
Sean: I missed Perth when I was in Australia. Your photo makes me even more sad I did. Great buildings.
Lex: Nice job with the background conversion and I like the overall tone of the picture.
Waldemar: Nice blues and very neat to see film.
Tiffany: I don't know what that is either, but it's cool looking. I'm glad you didn't resist. :)
Thangavelu: Great shot of water drops. Mine always seem to come out flat. Love the colors too.
Carey: Nice dragonfly pic! I've really fallen in love with photographing them. They all have different faces/expressions it seems.
Rick D: Until I read what you wrote, I was thinking it was dawn. Very nice.
Leo: Still pretty in the last stages.
Epp: Really interesting water shot. I'd like to know what it was (besides water).
Jonas: Very nice HDR landscape.
Martin: I agree...I love the diversity of this thread and your pic certainly added to that. Thank you.
Gwen: I can't see your swan. :(
Draganco: Literally the eye of a tiger!
Tom P: Very nice capture of the sky. I've been there and know what you mean about the rapid changes.
Ilkka: So soothing.
Steve P: I really like this. Their faces show a lot even though you can't see them full on.
Mikhail: Very cool effect.
Bryan M: I think I've walked across that bridge before!
Ivan: LOL...cats are so funny at times.
Chad: Really pretty photo.
Kim Senior: Beautiful lotus flower.
Uzay: The pigeons look like they're having fun!
Dan: I like the effects.
Peter: Nice use of HDR.
Sanford D: Very neat shot. Are the lights permanent?
Peter K: Storms are so cool to try and capture. Nicely done.
Barry F: Yummo and that Marko's body fat is non-existent.
Aaron: I really like the bright red airplane against the dark blue sky.
Tim Holte: Very sweet picture.
Michael Axel: What a neat building. I'm thinking it's too large for a house? Hotel?
Amy: Glad you didn't pass up the opportunity. Cute expression!
Stephen Brown: Nice curvature shot.
Jam: Very sharp woodpecker!
Nik: Maybe? ;)
Kris: Nice picture and well said.
Toni: Immaculate looking old car.
Wenshu: Very pretty flowers. My neighbor has a purple passion flower vine and I go by each day to see their blooms, flowering, and slow demise by day's end.
Lance: Looks like a fun time!
Eddy F: Welcome and I really like your lighting of Jill.
Rene: Wow, cool cave picture and glad you made it. :)
Lil: Very nice photo and great colors. Have a wonderful time with your family. I have time this week, so even though I can't do your "commentary" as well, I made the effort to comment on each shot. I hope I didn't miss anyone. I started this a few hours ago, so it's officially Thursday everywhere. Once again, great job everyone, and I can't wait to see what everyone finds during the week for next Wednesday!

(And as always, thanks for the kind comments on my contribution this week.)

liljuddakalilknyttphotogra
Jeannean, thank you for commenting on my shot as well as filling in for me & commenting on all the shots. You've done a great job. I finally figured that the best way was to open two windows & toggle in between both of them. That speeds up the process a lot as I don't have to scroll up & down the whole time any more. :-) Got to learn to be time efficient. :-D
I will enjoy my time with my sister & nephews etc a lot. I've not seen them in two years. :-( Far too long if you ask me. :-)

steve_phillips3
Thank you for the comments Jeannean and Per Christian. I just discovered this forum a couple weeks ago and I love it. I am partial to kids photos since I have a couple of my own (kids that is, not just photos) although neither of the girls dancing are mine. Per Christian, Paul, Robert, Justin, Christopher, I enjoyed yours especially. Lil, I am taking my kids to the beach next week, so your shot inspired me.
Tiffany, as a former electrical engineer, I believe your photo is probably a semiconductor wafer going through some part of the manufacturing process, although I am not 100 % positive.
Steve
tonmestrom
Thanks all.

Lil, thanks. I think it's great you had at least a go at it.

Wouter, just like you I'm Dutch and I know how daunting street photography can be because it's what I do and have done by now for quite some years. If you do like it however but lack some confidence why not start at events, local fairs or touristic areas. People there expect to be photographed and it's a nice way for most to build up a bit more confidence and basically get over it. It's not about shooting in high crime areas (although some of us do that as well occassionally).Places like Venice Beach for instance where Lil is now are perfect for that as well.

In the last three weeks alone I've been at the Summer Carnival in Rotterdam, the Gay Pride in Amsterdam and so on. There are lots of opportunities. Coming weekend the Hartjesdagen in Amsterdam. If you want some pointers just drop me a mail.
